Default Turbo 383 Build.. AGAIN

My last motor didn't last too long unfortunately. Broke a couple piston ring lands at the track. Still not exactly sure what caused it but it may have ran lean since my fuel system was maxed out.

Old motor

This time I'm covering all my bases. New fuel system, better crankcase ventilation, better pistons, meth injection, and AFR heads.

New lift!

No A/C but I am very happy with it. Coated the floor, painted, and added the lift. I love it. Here is a before and after:

Looks great Ralls. Good luck the second go round. What PCM are you using?

Also, what part number is that oil pan? Have you verified it will fit? What oil pump and pickup you using with it?

Thanks

Hey, what's the height of your garage? 13 ft? Is that or is that not the portable lift kit you are using?! I'm this close to buying one myself but the height of the garage gets me. Mine is 13 ft but yours looks taller for some reason. Nice setup!

I thought I saw that lift somewhere before and then I realize I saw it yesterday in my Summit tools catalog. I was wondering how well it worked since I have been wanting to install a lift. Can you let me know how it is working out for you. Here is where it can be found for all who are interested.

Yep it's a Maxjax portable lift. It's maxed out in that picture. I sit on a roll chair when under the car. Anything it better than laying on a creeper with a couple inches between you and the car while getting your shirt stuck in the wheels all the time. When I need to lower/raise the lift, I just bust out the roll around hydraulic motor and hook up the quick disconnect lines to each post.

Actually my garage is 8.5 feet tall. Top of the lift extended is 7.5 feet. There is 1 ft from the car roof and ceiling. 13 feet is a lot dude! You can fit a full size lift in there. Most lifts are like 12 feet tall.

Stock PCM as before. Didn't have any issues with it so no need to change.

The pan is PN 1030D. It fits the engine. My builder had to clearance one section at the rail from hitting the rods. Also clearanced the rail where the knock sensor is. You need to say it's for a f-body so they can put a notch where the steering rack is. It comes with a oil pump and pickup. I originally got a standard volume/high pressure pump but my builder insisted I should use a high volume pump so I did that instead. The motor isn't in the car so I'm not positive on other clearance issues yet. One thing that ticked me off was they put my turbo oil drain bung further over than where I told them. Now my AN fitting hits the motor mount. I had to grind down the clam shell mount but it still hits the pedestal. So my two options were to get madman solid motor mounts or a UMI k-member since the pedestal is part of the k-member and thinner. I chose the k-member.

Well it's on and poppin then but I'm not 13 ft like I thought, got my numbers mixed up. 113" which is around 9.5 ft. Still it's doable. That'll be my X-mas gift to myself. And you are so right about shirts and creepers...hair too. LOL

They were forged SRP 31cc pistons. It made 643hp/627tq. New pistons are JE 2618 alloy.

Fast forward some.

What's the diameter on that vc hole you have w/ the bulkhead fitting and what size is that fitting? Looking good man. Like your Stef's pan too, mine is bit different from yours though. Didn't see any windage studs on the pan.
