Default lt4 EFI or carb?

So I have a lt4 stroked out 396. it has lt4 intake with 42lb injectors and ASM mono blade. also is machined for a dizzy if wanted to go that route. heres my dilemma. i dont need emmisions as motor is in a 72 camaro and utah law doesnt require it for my vintage tags. Is it worth all the headache and tuning issues to stay with EFI or would I actually be better off going a carb, dizzy, and ditch the whole computer tuning and efi all together. reason being i blew up my computer trying to load a tune and its been nothing but a pain to try and get this motor tuned good enough to drive. just wanting the pros and cons of both setups so I can decide which direction to go now that Im out a pcm.

Currently im going with a carb setup mainly because of the added cost of trying to go efi. I say it generally depends on the usage of the car. If its mainly a weekend or race car I would go carb. Its so much cheaper and reliable.

thats kinda my thinking too and more along the lines of my tuning knowledge. EFI just baffles me to no end. all those tables are too much. now timing, plugs, jets, fuel pressure etc.. I can do. adjusting a computer. apparently not fning thing got a glitch when I was loading the tune so my pcm is toast.
whats the best intake for this setup? thinking a demon carb or such and a billet msd.

You want to cut the cowl or no? All out I'd suggest a ported 2970 intake, 4150 adapter and a 950cfm carb from pro-systems or AED. A 2925 intake and 850 carb from either previously mentioned companies would be more streetable for you, probably give up 20hp up top.

ha just kidding, saw it's in a '72. Depends on how much hood you want to run I have a soft spot for the '70-'73s.... I had a 70 RS before this car, loved it!

Get a Super Victor and either have it modded to fit the LT4 bolt pattern or have the heads modded for the standard sbc intake bolt pattern. Here are some pics of my new setup so you can see what I'm talking about.

I ran my 396 on the engine dyno last month, with a GM carb manifold and a Holley 770(pigrich out of the box). Used a Bridgeport for the intake holes.

I may have one that i may want to sell. How can you tell the difference between that one and the one for the LT1? i have AFR 210 heads which use the LT4 port layout and a carb intake....... When i pull it off ill measure the port for you if your interested in the intake.

Run the supervic.

I have a max ported 2925 and it is a thing of beauty. Pretty straight shot into the heads.

Puck your running efi carb guys don't want that big intake unless they have a lot of motor.

He has a 227 AFR headed 396 with a pretty decent sized cam, and the valvetrain to support some serious RPMs...I would consider that quite a bit of motor! He would definitely pick up with a single plane over an LT4 intake.

Looks like he has a very nice build going on, not your typical cookie-cutter LTx . Only thing I would change would be a bit more compression then 11.2, but that would just be nit-picking.
