Default Pulling tune from PCM

Ok guys, so ive finally got my car running after a long awaited upgrade, and ive switched to an OBD1 pcm (swap from madtuner) and the car is idling a bit funny. As in after about a minute it fluctuation from about 900-1500rpm in fairly rapid succession. Id like to pull the tune off the car, save it to my laptop, and take it to my local tuner to make sure everything is ok to drive it in there. Ive tried downloading winflash as recomended, but when i download it it comes with no .exe file or install setup, just a bunch of notepad files and the like.

Please help me! id love to drive this thing this summer.

Try redownloading it. Also did you get it straight from tuner cats? Maybe it's the program that unzipped it for you?

I have downloaded the program multiple times, and it doesnt even need to be unzipped when i download it? This is what im having troubles with.

I will try and download tunercats alltogether. And I am in kelowna! What camaro (color/rims?) are you driving?

Edit: Tunercats didnt work, i got a runtime error?

go to>
"Can I run the Tuner program under Windows Vista/Windows 7?"
you will have to purchase the $EE definition file to read the lt1 pcm

i use tunerpro rt its free and winflash trial to read and save my bin. all winflash does is reads the pcm image and saves it as a bin file. you cant view what it means without tunercat or tunerpro and the right xdf definition to translate it into plane english. with tunerpro you can compare bins against each other to see if something is off.
is your car a auto? what year is the pcm flashed with?early 94 bins are differant

or use tunerpro rt which is free along with the definition file!!!

you need the $ee one unless you have a very early 94

I have tunerpro installed and setup. I have had it plugged into the car while running and do a "datalog" of the running parameters (although i find it logs terribly so i got datamaster trial for logging)
The problem im having with winflash is pre pcm reading. I cant get the winflash program to install on my laptop (windows 7)
The car is an M6, 1997 running the obd1 swap, running a tune from madtuner (i assume its flashed with a modified 97 tune)

Im not having a problem with tunerpro, it seems to be working all fine. But unless i can use tunerpro to download/upload the tune to and from my PCM (which i thought wasn't possible, and that i needed winflash to complete this task) i need an alternative or to get winflash to work for me

lol i woulda traded you pcms i like obd2 but these flash based pcms are sweet too. okay i have win 7 ultimate on my acer laptop, no issues.
ive never been able to use tuner pro with my car for a datastream, just never worked. might be my aldl cable, mine a straight up usb no serial conveter. win flash read my pcm in 5 mins or so. it maybe that winflash expired and its blocking you from getting another free trial. i know it stores cookies or something so you cant delete it and re install a new trial once it expires, same with datamaster which is awesome
arent there some sensors you need to change? like the knock

With the conversion kit from madtuner it was plug and play.
Not necessarly cheap, but i didnt want to deal with electrical stuff.
guess there isnt any way to delete the cookies? I dont recall having it downloaded before, and the laptop has recently been factory reset.

im sure theres a way, but i dont know how. its a 30 day trial, but if you havent downloaded it since the install/factory rest it should be working. you did get it from them directly here:

i just downloaded that to my desktop and it installed but i think you need to save it first then go to the actual file and run in xp compatible mode run as admin to install. i think i did on my laptop.
so download it it will ask to run click save it willk ask to run again as it is quick to download, deny. go to where its downloaded and right click the file go to properties and click compatibility tab select xp service pack 3 click ok then. then run as admin and should work

Im using a Tunercats for all my tunning needs.

As for your flucuating idle syptoms it sounds like either a MAF issue or IAC issue. Get Datamaster from the net its free and you can monitor it and see it doing when it does it.

The idling issue has seemed to sort itself out for the most part. It holds a steady idle around 1k with minor flucuations, and returns to idle fairly regularly after a 2k rpm hold.
Thanks for the info! Going to try and get it down to the tuner today.
Hoursetraitor i will try that as soon as i get home! Thank you.

Edit: That method seemed to work! Its now running on my comp. Thank you!
