Question heads and cam with 383

Is there a better or worse cam to put in a 383 stroker, or does it just depend on the heads you use? I guess what I'm trying to ask is how do you choose a can for a 383, does that fact that it is a 383 mean that the can specs should be specific? Sorry for the confusion, thanks for the help.

say a cam like the CC306 will be a lot more tame with the more cubes of a 383 then say a stock cubed 350 the 383 tames them down to where they are not so "radical"

People here (including me) are going to say if you want a small cam or want numbers in the 400HP range there is no reason to go 383. A well built 355 will outrun a 383 with mismatched parts all day. AI would be the place to go for a Heads and Cam package for a 383 look at RamAir95's set up thats on stock heads (castings) and a AI cam shifting at under 7200 because of the opti. LE is also a proven performer with these cars with his H/C package and at a good price for what you get.

What are you plans on the short block and whats the budge here??

What do you want to do with the car? NA, FI, nitrous? Street? Street/strip? Drag only car?

Etc

You need to take everything into account for a good working combination, heads, transmission, gears, wieght, and what you want to do with the car. Take your time picking a cam, it was the most time consuming decision of my whole car.

I'm 21 and going to school its my DD I want to do a street n/a build, but I don't want to kill gas milage. What's the best gas mileage I can get with a 350-360hp build? And what cam setup will get me those kind of numbers?

The comp 306 is a good sounding cam that performs well, but keeps the car very streetable. Keep in mind that you will need a tune for it.

Why would you do a 383 for only 360 hp?

Save your money on the 383.

Have the block refreshed, get a custom grind in the 22x intake range, add full bolt-ons/supporting mods, and call it a day.
