Default ANyone else running past .700 lift and huge Duration SR ??

Was just trying to find some videos of LTXs with SR with big cams on youtube etc and wanted to get some feedback from anyone who is running bigger cams on maintenance etc to know what to expect.

What parts are you using? Lifters, pushrods, rockers, springs?

My new motor isn't running yet, but with an aggressive SR you will need to be doing more maintenance. Things like springs and lifters become wear items that need to be replaced. Parts are a lot more advanced now then they were years ago so it won't be like you need new springs every 2,000 miles, and higher end lifters can be sent out for a rebuild instead of replacing them to save some cash.

My car isn't a DD anymore and I'm hoping for ~5-7k miles before needing anything replaced or rebuilt, but it will be checked much more often then that just for piece of mind. No point in risking a $10k+ engine for something as simple as springs.

Oh, Nassty just recently posted a vid of his sick LTX impala on the dyno and its running an SR around what you are asking. It's 401 cubes though so eats the cam up more then a standard 383. Has a few degrees more duration but a little less lift then my 383 cam.

I think he spun to 7500 NA for the dyno run, and plans to spin to around 7800 on nitrous.

Search threads started (and posts) by user "SonnyinVA" on the corvetteforum. I remember him having a big solid roller, dual stage, 388-396ci LTx deal. He ran (at least for a bit) some real high rpms...and did a 200mph standing mile.

Expect $1k in valve trian before you buy rockers

Yeah theres more than $1k in the valve train I think. Ferrea Hollow comp valves, T&D fully optioned Shaft rockers, Xyeldyne or something valvesprings with extra coatings and options, Tool steel retainers etc etc. Can't remember the pushrods I just told him to buy whatever he though was the best money can buy.

Thanks for all the input. Ill definitely be lighting this board and vetteforum for sure with pics and vids once I can get this thing inside my car and rolling. Dyno video to come this week hopefully as the motor will see a dyno with the builder for break in and baseline tune (they test EGT on all cyl and will at least know what it likes timing/fuel wise for peak power and idle). Obviously timing will change under load when in the car but it will help me get it idling right off the bat.

Bottom end is Callies Magnum xl with extra lightening, Crower Maxilight Billet rods with all optional arp studs etc. Lightweight Mahle pistons coated, lightweight pins and thin ring pack. Program Billet splayed caps on all 5 locations arp studded too. Oiling is a Titan gerotor billet comp oil pump with a JJ billet fab oil pan. Cam of course as mentioned in a few posts is an LS firing order Billet solid roller.

I remember SOnnys post on CF I need to dig them back up and watch those vids again. That thing sounded like a train going down the mile. I'm not sure the wife is going to enjoy going to the movies anymore in the car

He's got an epic build thread that goes from building the motor through installing it, and gives TONS of specs and info .

Damm I'll be happy if I can hit a 2.0 lol I dont 1/4 much but I will run it a few passes to see what she traps for sure. I'm sure i wont have nearly the hp as you q95 your heads are probably flowing much more, intake is better for sure and compression is much higher too. Im sure your cam is more aggressive as well as better exhaust etc the list goes on !! Q95 How much hp are you making ballpark? My motor gives up some ci too but id say its like a baby version with similar components to a degree.

haha i really dont know at the wheels the car has been on one dyno near my house but the number is def not correct...........said i made 480rhwp popping and farting melting plugs and a month later running correctly i make 446 after trapping 133mph lol..........the motor itself should be upper 600's approaching 700

Yeah I dont think that dyno is very accurate in giving a representation of actual power. If you are trapping 133 I would have to guess near 700 as well which is wow ! what does the car weigh in at?

last year it was 3515 when it went the 10.26 @ 132

this year ive been struggling with traction and gear/tire swaps ive bested a 10.31 @ 133.4 with too low a gear and a 1.58 60'........that was a 3330lbs.......that was with a 4.11 gear and 28" tire.......now im back to 4.56 gear with a 29" tire im thinking this is the combo it needs finally.......hoping to see a 135mph trap and 9.9x et
