Default Guide plates?

On summit right now about to order my rockers arms push rods and such.

So have Ultra Pro mags in the cart I go to guide plates

Comp makes them and they are 20 bucks

Then trick flow makes a set that are 50

My car has the CC306 so nothing extreme at all about the cam so just get the comp or get the trick flows???

The Comps aren't accurate for the LT1. Get the Trickflows ( 30400623-8). They are $26-not $50. I assume you are getting NSA rockers.

You did not answer the question. UPMs come in SA or NSA.

7.2 PR's will most likely work just fine, however it would still be a good idea to take a PR you have now (I assume the ones you have now are 7.2"?) and measure the sweep before buying new stock length ones.

I used the stock ones out of my parts car and compared them to the ones that were in the car and they were the same length I have everything ordered other then the springs I guess you can't order them straight through the internet they have to call and such???

Figured the 21st century they would be able to just do everything over the net....

What I'm saying is you need to check the sweep angle:

ohhh I gotcha I'll check that out once all the parts get here

list of parts are

Patriot Gold Dual spring kit
Trick Flow guide plates
Trick Flow push rods
ARP 7/16 studs
Comp Pro Mags

Will all be here next week and hopefully next weekend installed. Ive heard you can swap springs with out even adding pressure to the cylinders and just letting the valve sit on the pistons. this Correct?????

I have never had luck with doing it that way. The valve would sink too far down into the cylinder for the keepers to come loose. I've always had luck stuffing rope into the cylinder before knocking the keepers loose.
Hopefully you are also going to check the spring install height when replacing them. You need to add a spring micrometer and shims to that grocery list if you don't have them already.

Install height changes from spring to spring???? figured with a brand new set they should all be good? If not guess I'll get them as well.

Different brands? Perhaps. Same brand? Probably not, however it's just a good idea to check the install height to ensure the valves have the proper spring pressures.

what spec are on the Patriot springs for "installed" height??? 1.8"?

stock are 1.700"-1.750" so a 1.8" spring would install "shorter" meaning its seat and open spring pressure would be higher.

spring pocket is machined down to allow springs with a higher install height. This requires the heads be pulled

with that said many do run 1.8" springs shorter...doubt you would be using shims

A PR check tool and spring height tool would be a good investment

TDC works just fine for someone competent. You should check the install height of the springs to be safe. Close to .050 under coil bind is ideal if you're not really pushing the limits of the spring.

Did they widen the seperation of the valves and studs on the LT1? I just started to put the valve train together on mine, and I noticed some of the rockers were not on straight. I currently have the comp cam guide plates intalled, and obviously need to replace them.
