anyone run the nt555r by nitto...thinkin about trying them out mainly because of the tread pattern. if i get stuck in the rain id rather not wreck my car lol

Nittos are good for daily driving with some track use you'll get the most miles out of them. For the best traction I would go with MTs but don't expect a lot of miles out of them

I'm runnin Nitto 555 DR's and I like them! They are 315's and I think they hook fairly well, I havent been to the track yet but on the street they do pretty good. A hell of a lot better then any street tire and the tread last pretty good too. For street I would say one of the better tires to get.

All drag radials absolutely suck in the rain.

If you just want to hook and not worry about tread life, go with MT's or Hoosiers.

If you want to sacrifice some traction and get an extra season or two out of your tires, go with Nittos or BFGs.

I've run Nitto and BFG drag radials and I can say they were pretty close, but the BFGs did hook a little better.

I've also had Hoosiers and they hook effing awesome.

^ I've got 4000 on my BFGs now and still have a lot of tread left. Of course I'm not making close to 410 at the wheels, and my car only sees the track once a month or so.

From what I gather a lot of people have mixed feelings on 555's. Some say they hook well some don't, both coming from light - heavily modded cars.

I'd say go with MT Street ET.

I love the NT05R's. I also have the NT555r's and not bad but the new ones are far better.

Its not that drag raidals suck in the rain, its the tread design doesnt channel water, the grooves are too small. Theres no real differance in them. bfg probably are the best in the rain but weve had best luck with MT for hooking.

I run the Nittos on my street wheels and Hoosiers on my drag wheels. The Nittos last alot longer and do much better in the rain. The Hoosiers wear out to fast and hook much better. I have had the BFGs and I got 6,500 street/track miles out of them. It just comes down to where you want to make your compomises.

it is not the DRs that suck in the rain its the driver. that being said the 555r is a great tire for mostly street use and some track time (got about 6000 miles with plenty of spirited driving). if the tire is gonna see close to 50% or more time at the track the mickeys are better (got just over 3500 miles under the same conditions as the nittos. tried bfgs and the performance was in between but they wore quickly.

I got my nitto nt555 drag radials on CL for 40 bucks and can't complain I ran my car a couple years back when it was stock with stock tires and ran 14.4 and then ran the nittos and dropped to a 13.99 but I did get better at banging gears as well. I can't wait to get my car back to the track with all the weight reduction and suspension!

MY 555r's were awesome for about 5 runs, when the car could best a 14.4 lol, after a cutout and converter all she would do is blow em off.

Best 60 with em after that is a high 1.9 and mostly 2.0-2.1.

They do great on the street, Hook very well. Track is a completly different surface to launch off of.

Mine are the 315's, they look beefy and awesome, they do well on the street. They are deffinetly not the best DRAG radial.

Im gonna go a little different than most here. I picked up a set of used Toyo Proxes TQ Dr's for 50 bucks from my buddy. They dropped my et by 6 tenths at the track over my **** street tires. Ive heard of people getting over 10k miles with them on the street too.
