Default What to expect from 383 LT1

So Im about to drop off my block for my build.. Going 383 LT1 with 4340 crank, H beams, Mahle -5cc pistons. AFR 210 heads and Nitrous Outlet plate kit 150/200 shot.. Cam is going to be custom grind and unsure of specs at this time. Trying to stay around 11.5:1 CR with long tubes, mac dumps, 4l60e with a 3200 stall and 10 bolt with 3.73's. What kinda of numbers could be expected out of this setup.. Im trying to decide if i want to stick with my LT4 intake and 58mm TB or go with a Vic Jr and fabbed elbow for the 58mm TB.. As far as rwhp what could the range be or track times? I know someone out there has a setup somewhere close to this.. Thanks for the help guys

Those AFR heads seem to be a bit much. Any reason you went with them? Are they as-cast or ported? Don't expect that 10-bolt to hold up very well if you put any kind of sticky tire behind it.

AFR's are untouched no port job.. I got a decent deal is the main reason.. I have plans on a 12 bolt. Just waiting for a deal between now and March, if not then ill order one when i return from this deployment..

I'd sell them personally, or at least look into having them ported.

Looking at a port job also.. Main reason im waiting is due deciding on the LT4 intake or Vic Intake.. i want to send them both at the same time and ensure their matched well.

Why would you sell them??

Depending on cam and head flow I'd guess between 430 - 460 rwhp before spray and as for the rear I'd get a 9" or S60 (Dana 60) before I'd get a 12 bolt but that's just my 2 cents.

I dont much about the rears, so im leaning towards the 12 based on others opions and suggestions.. Why do you say.. 9" or S60..

Thanks for that info..I had a 2800 with the stock bottom end, cam only.. I didnt think it had enough for it.. I put down 322/318rwhp and a 8.60 1/8th with that set up before i spun the rod bearings..lol

So what do you guys think about this cam with my setup??? I had this cam with my bolts ons and turned 318/322rw. How does this compare to the hot cam and other cams people are running these days? Thanks

Thats A LOT bigger then the hot cam and don't see how you only put down 312 with that even though the stock heads were probably choking that thing big time

In all reality thats probably a decent cam for the 383 give it the revs it wants though

I figured the heads were holding it back.. It was very well mannered for the street and steel added power to the seat of your pants..lol I didnt even change the rockers out.. lol Ended up spinning the number 8 rod bearing.
So should i use this or go with a new custom grind?

Because it's a crime to keep them as-cast. Those heads have serious potential in the hands of a skilled porter or CNC mill. It would be a shame to leave them unported.
