I have a friend that is debating on doing this setup. Ive searched for a little while and is it really worth it considering you still use the opti? His car is just a h/c bolt on car and has eaten quite a few optis and he said he is looking to get a little more out of them. He doesnt race very often he said he is just tired of spending 400 big ones every few months. Discuss so i can relay this back to him.

first just have him stop washing under the hood with a pressure sprayer. that is opti killer number one right there. check out chandler motorsports on ebay. you can get their optis for just over 100 and they have fairly good reviews. another sure fire killer of the opti is if he did a cold air intake setup and didnt hook the moisture evacuation lines back up. always make sure to keep those intact seeing as it is what keeps the water dried out inside the opti. he will also want to make sure he seals it good when he installs the cap and rotor. hope this helps.

I would say its not worth it in this case but that's my opinion. Don't buy cheap or over priced optis, buy one made by GM. I have never had one go out.

i have the LTCC setup now on a stock 84k opti that before the LTCC setup was on its last leg, basically the LTCC module takes away the current the goe's across the the optical sensor so you end up with a very expensive cam sensor. Between the LTCC setup and gutting the CAT's i picked 4 tenths of a second and lot better drivability.

Was your car eating optis or something? What made you go with LTCC?

I think that is all he wants is drivability. I asked him did he pressure wash it and told me he knew better. I told him about 24x conversion but he told me he doesnt have the wallet for that.

I would tell your friend to do it. In my personal opinion it was the best thing o did for my car period. My car has turned pretty much into a track only car over the last couple of years and I really love the two step and timing retard the the ltcc offer for nitrous applicTions .

Welp he bought the ltcc and then bought ls2 coils and coil bracket from efi connections. Hopefully it wont come back to bite him in the ***.

I wouldn't **** money away on that either unless looking to turn north of 7K or you need a 2+BAR MAP.

Yeah im not looking to spend 1500 on a new computer, i dont race, and dont have 400rwhp. I'm primarily doing t the LTCC to help eliminate the opti issues.

On a side note, my friend owns a DynaPack 5000 dyno, im going to do a before and after, not expecting any power gains.

LTCC doesn't eliminate opti issues just takes a little stress off it. Not enough to justify in my opinion, your basically left with a really expensive optical sensor. Every opti ive had die the optical sensor is what failed. Kinda stupid in my opinion to pay that much and still have the opti.

In over a decade of daily driving and playing with these I have never had an opti failure and the first cam swap was 8 years ago when I was putting 20K a year on the car yet.
IMO if you have a normal setup and have constant opti troubles you are missing something or doing something wrong,, bad vent harness, cam pin length, something.

The advantages of the LTCC and 24x kit are coil per cylinder ignition and total opti elimination in the case of the 24x kit. I don't ever recall reading or hearing of anyone with either of these systems having high rpm misses after the swap nor any more opti failures in the case of the 24x kit. Plus with the 24x kit you get the tuning advantages of the LSx platform, and in my area you can't find anyone who still tunes LTx cars, but everyone tunes LSx cars. That was the other reason I went 24x.

I see both sides of the coin on this issue, however i do know the positives and negatives of these systems. I just cant justify the cost of the 24x system if my car is the occasional daily.

Keep in mind my car is a swap already, 92 B4C/1LE car with a reworked harness. Not sure i want to rewire and repin the whole damn thing when i just did it, what a nightmare that was.

Anyway, it should be fine for my application

I thought about it going ltcc but i just cant see paying for another opti again. I would just rather delete it all together.
