Default LT1 STARTER help!

has anyone had any experience with this JEGS prostarter #555-10001 ?
car is superslow to crank once hot
this seems like a great deal as I refuse to buy a reman unit.
it will be going on a 10.3 to 1 comp. 383 so Iam pretty sure its has enough guts to spin it
also I notice that most of the aftermarket starters have a male clip where the pcm wire goes instead of the bolt through connection on the factory starter is this an issue?

I've been running the same starter for 2 years now. It should work fine on your 383, especially with the low compression.

The wire doesn't care what kind of connector it has on it, so just make it work.

Thanks man. Better jack that compression up a ton if you wanna do that (unless you're boosting)!

D@MN factory LT1 rod bearings are as fragile as glass it seems.

yeah the battery is good, I think the heat from the y pipe after 148,000 has took its toll on the starter.

Cranking slow when hot, bad rod bearings.... Sounds more like a timing problem. Before you buy a starter, check some voltages while it's cranking hard. Battery voltage and the drop in the ground and positive circuits to the starter.

AFAIK, LT1 rod bearings are the same as other small blocks and have never been much of a problem.
