Default ALDL cable to laptop

connectec the aldl cable to my laptop and nothing happends. i know for a fact that it should start to download some sort of software. Any help would be great.

You need to select the correct port in datamaster.

its not letting me select any of the ports.

Go to devices and printers and you should see a little icon for your cable. Click on that and it should say somewhere download device drivers, then select automatically online search. Something along those lines, and it should get that cable able to be used with the proper drivers.
After that you gotta go in datamaster, go to file;record ALDL data. Should let you know how many you have left blah blah, a window should pop up called Serial Data Acquisition, next to file you should find Com Port, then select 5? I think? Should only be a couple options. Then once your there, you can record/ monitor.

This is how I did it at least, and I think it's the only way.
