rounded off head bolts

rounded off head bolts I am taking my heads off to get them rebuilt, in the process a few of the bolt heads got rounded off
i already got 2 sets of 'bolt-outs'
the 1st set had a 13 in it, which is the size of the bolts, but it didnt work and seemed too small
took it back for another set with a 14. still didnt work, was too big
any suggestions?

Using a 6 point socket would have prevented this problem. About all you can do is try hammering on a 6 pt socket .IIR its a 9/16ths. If that doesn't work you can cut the heads off or drill them off, remove the cylinder heads and use vise grips or a small pipe wrench on them. Good luck with it.

no a 6 point socket. there are 6 and 12 point sockets. Using a 12point can sometimes result in rounded heads, I wouldnt just assume thats what you were using but its a possibiliy.
Look at the socket where the bolt goes in, count how many corners it has lol.
He is saying use a 6 point and hammer it on if you can. Other option is to use a grinder/cut off wheel and try to recreate the bolt head to something close to what it was.
Bad problem to have man, sucks to hear that.

well i know for sure i did use a 6 pt and not what was in the link
my socket set is a metric/standard set.
i posted that because i remembered seeing them at sears and knew they needed to be hammered on. gonna try one more day before trying to cut the heads of the bolts off.
