Starting issues I have a 383 LT1 in a 96 impala and I am having starting problem. I relocated the batterey to the trunk of the car, using 1 opp wire, a optima red top, a powermaster minitorque starter. I have the main power wire on a distrabution block then power from the distrabution to the starter. I have ground everything. It mainly happens when the motor has got to tempature. I also have a heat blanket on the starter to prevent heat from getting to it. It seems like a timing issue but I have taken it to two different tuners and they say it cant be. I cant figure it out.
Wow! This is the exact issue i am having other then i don't have the high torque starter. If you find anything out let me know. I too have the biggest red top battery and a 1 guage wire from the back and grounded everywhere and it still cranks slow when its warm! I was seriously looking at the timing issue in the tune also but my tuner didn't think it was the issue at all... 
Where in the back is the ground connected to and how long gauge is the wire?
do you have a good hot wire to the alt?
Is it a almost dead battery crank or a half charge slower than normal.crank when hot

I have one 2 awg wire off the neg side going to the seat belt post in the rear and one more coming off and down and out the spare tire well and grounded to the chassis. I also have the block grounded through all the factory locations in the front on top of all this in the back! Starting to thing it is the power wire not thick enough. It is 2 awg also and all the kits i have seen are running the same size.
Almost the "dead or low battery slower than normal crank for sure".....

What is the battery voltage with the engine running? What is the battery voltage at the battery terminals while cranking? This is where you need to start. After that you can measure the voltages in other places but you need to answer those questions first.

13.9 running is fine. That leaves out the alternator and all it's wiring. Now do the cranking test. Hope you're able to find a friend or a remote start switch.

The battery voltage should stay above 10 while cranking. If it doesn't it does not necessarily mean the battery is bad, there are other tests you need to do.

Have you checked for any draws yet?
If your by yourself get the multimeter and put it on your battery and put the meter on the rear hump where the gas tank is located. Look back at it and crank. I would use vise grips to hole to test leads on if you dont have the alligator clips

Update for me. Went to the big *** 2/00 wire and it took care of my issue. Fires right up now. Must have been too long of a run with the 2 guage cable.
