The most likely culprit is the transmission mount.

Feels like its coming from the back, back middle. As the car comes to a full stop and goes into 1st gear you can feel it. Its as if something is loose.

Thanks guys.

Put a jack under the trans and lift it gently and see if the mount is separating.. If it is unbolt it and install a new one

Get a energy mount much stronger. You will thank me when the stock unit breaks again.

x10 on trans mount. It takes 20 minutes to replace. It will break again sometime though, unless you move the torque arm off of the tail of the transmission with a different crossmember.

Thank you all for the confirming what the problem is. I'll have to get it checked out and order an energy mount, thanks 96TransAmboosted. Is it still OK to drive it like that until I have it fixed?

When my mount broke i felt it on the take off directly under the tunnel scapin the bottom of the car. I would say rear ujoint or backlash on the ring and pinion possible, is it clunking going from drive to reverse with ur foot on the brake?

Check trans mount first. When mine tore apart, I thought I my rear end was about to fall out.

I finally had some time to take the car out last night. The clunk def feels like its coming from the center of the car, by the tranny tunnel. There is a slight clunk going from P to R.

Now another problem came up, when I started it, it kinda stumbled and didn't wanna start. So I primed it again, checked fuel pressure, all is OK, turn it on, it starts. I start driving down the street the ABS light comes on. Then I'm waiting at the lights, all my lights turn off and the car stumbles and starts again now my handbrake light is on and airbag (I think it was). The car did the same thing 3 other times coming home. What a nightmare. Dunno where to start.

I usually think of a loose ground somewhere when the dash lights go all funky.

Not sure if this helps or not, but I've had my 94 Formula since 1997 and every once in a while (once every few months) the ABS light, service engine light, airbag, low traction (my car does NOT have traction control) will come on for no reason whatsoever when driving. Shutting it off and restarting brings everything back to normal. Seems to be some electrical/computer/ABS gremlin that only occasionally pop up. No big deal though.

+1, the problem in the original post does not sound like a trans mount to me. I actually have a similar noise and it is not the trans mount, I have broken two of those so I'm very familiar with that. A broken trans mount will result in a bang almost right underneath you when you take off hard.
