Cc306 cam
I had bought a cc502 cam and I was thinking of returning it for a 306 for more power I am having my head ported and valves done will the 306 be a good cam for a cruising car not really a DD just a car to whoop on the rice burners lol

Nobody really likes the 306 and most will say go with a different cam. The 306 needs to be turning high rpm's to make the power so with a stock bottom end it's not the best cam. Defiantly would want a stall for that cam if it's an auto. Do a search I'm sure there's 1000 threads on this cam on here.

Why so hung up on such old grinds and why going from a little on the mild side straight to bad manners and arguably too big.
The 503 is a nice cam I would use it before either of those. That said for the effort and expense of a cam swap I would be trying to take advantage of more modern valvetrain developments. Springs have come a long way with has allowed cams to come a long way.

Well I haven't put the 502 in yet the guy from comp talked me into buying that cam and now I'm thinking it not going to do what I want since it's such a baby cam I might as well stayed with the stock cam I haven't even got the camp yet just ordered it last night so I might sen it back for a bigger cam

Do NOT trust the tech line at Comp.
Comp absolutely employs some great minds but they are not the ones answering the phone on the 1-800 line. Those people are just looking at a catalog and don't really understand the application.
The 502 is mild but still a HUGE step up from stock.
No way in hell would I put a stock cam under ported heads, the only documented case I saw where that was done actually LOST a small amount of power.

I have a DD 306 car with LE2 heads, built bottom end and is not for the faint of heart. Some people say they want more power but dont know what to do with it, or even worse dont build there car to be safe. Gears, and ported heads is whats suggested for the 306 and a 2800 stall if auto. Not doing any of those first will kill drivabilty greatly. Plus a spot on tune to control surge and other things. They dont tell you when you buy a cam that injectors and a fuel pump will be needed as well.

It will perform decent. Since it is ordered and since you have no experience with cams I am going to say go ahead and use it. It is FAR better to start out mild and want more than it is to go too far and stop enjoying the car. I have seen a LOT of guys push too far stop enjoying the car than then they just lack the motivation to dial it back a notch and the car sits or is sold.
I did a ZZ4 crate motor cam which was 208/221 .474/.510 112LSA first, so mild that at idle it could be mistaken for stock but definitely made more power. Then I did Advanced Induction 190cc heads and their 226/234 cam HUGE performance gains. Then later they released their 200cc head and I got a set of those with a 228 cam, I am happy with this cam but had I gone this large first back when I was putting 20+k a year on the car I probably would not have been because today the car has 3800stall and 4.10s to compliment this cam. It is a handful in snow and the 4.10s get a little old on the highway after a couple hours.
The last setup though with the AI 226/234 cam and 3.73 gears I was perfectly happy driving the wheels off of. I only parked it in winter because I could not enjoy the power than and my other car handled snow better

He is more into sound then performance it seems. You can use the 503 with a bullit and be happy if all you want is sound. The 306 needs to be spun high. Why put it on a stock head can and have the rev at 6000? Waste of cam when you could just get one to suit gut needs. I have run this cam in 3 motors. But do what everyone says online. Call LE or AI or whoever and im sure you wont end up with a cam similar to the 306. More like the 503 I bet.
