Default car is cutting out at 3k rpm

so the car says low battery voltage and when you take off the car cuts out and starts studdering at 3k rpm, so you cant take it past 3k rpm. im thinkin maybe a coil but does anyone have any other suggestions?

Is the post of the alt loose? You will have to take it apart to tighten it from the inside.

When my coil went out the battery light never came but it did die at certain rpms. That's strange. Does it start right back up? Maybe the ignition control module?

You should look at all of your wires starting with the coil wire first. See if you can borrow a good coil and see if that is the issue.

If the car has low voltage, of course the coil wont fire properly. Checking the coil is a waste of time. Fix your low voltage issue. A coil won't charge and fire properly without the voltage it needs.

Always fix the known problem before trying to diagnose and throw parts at a secondary problem. One of the biggest rules of being a mechanic.
