You've been shoebox'd!
I would like to see this guy with his own smiley. I mean he's been around ever since I can remember. He's ALWAYS provided great advice and detail and he offers all the valuable LT1 information he's gathered FOR FREE! I think those of us who've used his sight over and over again have taken it for granted and it's time to salute the one responsible for giving us such valuable information.
I propose some sort of smiley holding a sign with what's stated in the title. Other ideas welcome. Can we do this?

LOL. Getting your named "verbed" is a compliment in itself. I appreciate the sentiment. I guess things are slow on the board this weekend with the Shootout going on, LOL!.
Shoebox comes from the slang term used on 55-57 Chevys (and also the early Chevy II/Nova). Since I own a 57 (and had owned a Chevy II), I just used that inspiration when I had to come up with a screen name long ago. I kinda got caught up with the 4th gen stuff when I purchased my 95Z, though I thought that someday the site would have some 57 Chevy info.
The shbox.com domain came a few years after I had a generic website already established. The greeting card company already had shoebox in use, so I shortened the name while still keeping the essence of shoebox (shorter to type, too!).
While a lot of the info has been there for a while, I still update and add new things. Many things have been added to just because of hanging out on forums and getting other people's ideas or experiences/info. Really, most of the stuff is there only because of forum questions or info needs. Answering a repeated question with a link is a lot easier than typing the same thing over and over .
While donations have been a bit slow lately, I always appreciate them and for any amount. The site has gotten so huge, that it takes up more server space and time to manage. I'm no HTML genius, which has worked to my advantage in keeping the site simple and fast to load (the site was there before DSL). I have toyed with the thought of advertising, but don't want to clutter and slow down the site with it, if I don't have to. Donations vs. advertising is the question. If donations won't give enough support, I may have to relent.
Shbox'd sounds good, since people know the site name pretty well, now. It has been my pleasure to be able to give some occasional help to folks.

The first thing I did when I bought my car in April 2010 was install a power window motor in the driver door. I had done it in other vehicles, but when I pulled the door panel off and saw that I couldn't even get to the rivets. I did a search online and found shbox.com for the first time which guided me right through the process. I have been on the site many times since thing. The info is priceless! Thanks shbox.
