What does this plug into?-daik8.jpg

This is on my 97 SS. I'm having EGR and EVAP codes but have replaced almost everything. I noticed this is unplugged and is near the air pump on the drivers side. What does it plug into? Also, in orange looks to be a bracket for something. I'm assuming an EVAP solenoid or something? I don't know if this is related but the codes I'm throwing are:
P0400 - Exhaust Gas Recirculation Flow Malfunction
P0403 - Exhaust Gas Recirculation Circuit Malfunction
P0443 - Evaporative Emission Control System Purge Control Valve Circuit

The plug "used to" plug into the air pump, but a tech service bulletin back around '97-'98 had it unplugged and the connector capped off. Without actually crawling under my car, I'll go out on a limb and say the tab is for mounting an OE plug wire loom, maybe....

If I remember correctly I have the same thing on my car it's just an unused plug. As far as the codes have you replaced the EGR solenoid?

Yeah. I've replaced the EGR solenoid, EGR valve, EVAP purge, gas cap, and some rotted lines. This is driving me insane.

Only thing I can think of is that the codes weren't deleted(I couldn't get mine to go away without a scanner), or bad wiring/pcm

I tested the EGR solenoid connector and EVAP solenoid connector. Neither one is getting power with the key on. Where should I go from here? The wiring doesn't look bad and the actuators fuse isn't blown... Actually I'm not getting any power to the actuators fuse either with the accessory on or even the ignition on. What's the deal? I'm confused as to where to look next.

test the wiring while you're car is idling and see if you get power at the solenoids. If still no power then test the source(not sure if it's the pcm or a separate controller)

Thanks for the advice. I went towards the PCM where there are all those wires. I noticed electrical tape... I unwrapped the electrical tape to find out there's a brown wire that looks like the insulation had been shaved off of it. I went on shbox's website and found out it's the power feed from actuators #2, which apparently feeds the EGR and EVAP solenoid (my two problems).

So, I have no electrical knowledge what so ever. I'm assuming I need to cut the brown wire as far back as the shaving is, solder a new one on it, and wrap it in heat shrink. My question is, how do I properly put the end of the bare wire into the connector?

Ok thanks a lot for the help. Here's a picture of the chewed up wire:

You reckon that's enough to fubar it? I'm going replace the wiring on it tomorrow and will know the results then.

Definitely the cause, any change in circuit resistance can cause major problems

Well, I wired it back together just to see if it'd work. The codes never came back. I guess now to do it the right way I need to find out where I can get a replacement terminal for it. Thanks again for the help!
