Need Help,LT1 Camaro won't start

Default Need Help,LT1 Camaro won't start

This is my father-in-law's car. Was mine but sold it to him. The car has been gone almost completely thru, doesn,t have many miles on it since that. It was running and starting fine and he ran some sea foam thru it and after he cut it off it hasn't started since. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

How much sea foam did you use?
Pouring too much can hydrolock the engine and cause damage.

Does the car crank over?

I'd start by checking the coil and ICM (ignition control module) both commonly go bad and are relatively cheap to replace (also plugs and wires). First check spark, then check fuel pressure manually. Once all this is checked out and you still have issues, optispark is the next most likely culprit. Good luck!

i was thinking prob the coil. the opti was put on new and hardly has any miles. still has stock coil i think tho.

i dont know exactly how much he used. it turns over fine just wont hit at all.

i checked the fuel on the line at the back of the intake and it had fuel there and you can hear the pump. so i figured firing, tried to check spark at plugs and didnt get any thing then tried off the coil and didnt get anything. i should still get fire off the coil if the opti is bad shouldn't i?

Probably depends just how fucked up (or not?) your opti is. Sounds like it could be the ICM...gone through 2 of these in 14 years on mine.

he has already replaced that. gonna try to go double check some stuff on it.
gonna make sure the fuel press is good enough and check all the firing again to make sure i missed nothing. thanks and i'll let ya know what it is.

its most likely your opti or icm.. what brand coil did you go with? its starting to get colder out and ignition compoinents on these cars dont like that, if they are on the verge of failure..

All electrical systems usually work better the colder they are(more heat=more resistance in the circuit, which causes more heat)

I think you should swap the coil. When my ICM went bad it threw a code and started and ran fine.

its a stock coil i'm pretty sure, it actually done all this when it was warmer, prob a month or two ago i'm just now getting around to messing with. i'm gonna do another check on the fuel press and then i'm gonna check the firing again then prob replace the coil.
