Default weight reduction... my thread.

I have a few questions as far as weight reduction...

Here is my current list I just started this as my dash broke.

Dash.
visors.
All rear panels.
Seats
Seat belt.

Things to do inner front fender
Power steering
Hvac
Egr
Hand rest...

My question is how the **** do people hit 2900 lbs... its a daily driver the only thing I will not take off are the door bars until I get a cage. My kid sits in my car once in awhile ....

Here is what's done so far... and the thread I've been using . Not to many images...

https://ls1tech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1045241

I'm going to sand this **** hole of a mess

Should I just saw this off?

Should I just scrape this off its a PITA

Please let me know if you see something that needs to go

Arm rest is coming off... is their any trick to it or just chop it off?

**** there's nothing left inside. Could ditch the seats for fiberglass racing buckets. Heater core and ducting? And i guess the A/C compressor if so equipped.

Replace it with what? It would be cool to do a plexiglass insert instead if possible.

The seats will be removed but I think I'm going with a plastic seat my buddy is selling it for $70.... passanger seat is being replaced as well.

What do you mean cut the floor? And hatch? Replace it with what exactly?

I was going to cut this entire thing and replace it with a light plastic

You could go at the inner body panels with a 2" holesaw like the old school swiss cheese cars in the 60's.

You have removed darn near everything out of that car. I could see taking the hatch out but would need to custom fab something to put in its place.

Take out the hatch struts, replace with makeshift prop rod.

Take the padding off the back of the carpet and remove all the rubber insulation under the bottom of the dash. Black94z28 got his car to 3100 with him in it. But he also removed the door bars which are pretty heavy. He fabricated some sweet tools to make it easy to get them out.

Also like stated the front n rear bumper supports are good for some weight as well. N I'm not sure if your car has it like mine, but the body caulking could be stripped and weld the body seams inside the car. Mine looks like someone had a field day and slapped it all over in the trunk
