Default steel headgasskets

any one ever used any or know about them all i know is they are used for supercharged motors?

If you're talking about MLS (multi-layer steel) gaskets like the ones Cometic makes, they work extremely well, but you must have a VERY smooth mating surface - far smoother than your OEM block for them to seal properly. I have a set on my current engine.

Definitely not necessary for your average engine.

Not necessary, but a really good idea if your block/heads are at the machine shop...they'll transfer heat better than a composition head gasket, and will not fatigue as fast either...now wether the cost is worth what you gain is up to you

im not sure the brand the guy at the shop doing the machine work reccomends them the company is 3 letters (i cant remember)or it might be the mls gaskets and they are like 150+$ i think. by block is true decked and heads milled as well. but another builder told me that they will still leak if the motor theyre on is running anti freeze. im just trying to see who to believe

MLS has really come around in the past few years for these engines and before that I just used Felpro stock replacements. Even blown cars of that time early 2000's was not doing anything all that special But definitly technology has stepped up.

i agree these days things are alot better. i used victor reinz head gaskets and one didnt seal so now im in debate of what to use next
