possibly something to do with what i mentioned. I'd just make sure 1-3 all slide in and out easily, then for me all the way forward was park and it was more like 1.5 clicks. when you pull it back from park the first throw is kindof short, then one more click back to N/R

you need to pull the pin out of the shifter cable and pull it off the bracket. put both the trans and shifter in 1st gear and verify that the cable slides on easy do the same with second. disconnecting the cable each time then making sure it slide onj freely when both shifted to the next gear. Set it up without checking N as N is actually two clicks because it is a longer throw than 1-3

also make sure all the pins are set up right in the shifer to give you the proper number of speeds etc.

mine is a RMVB with safe neutral my pattern is as follows

all the way forward is park. two ratchets back is N or reverse when TB is applyed. next ratchet 1, 2nd, third then another click for safe neutral.

like i said make sure your adjustment is all setup without using as it isnt the right length throw
Mine came set up for a A3 you only take out a pin for A4s or move it to the bottom hole if its a 2 speed. As far as the cable goes Mine works great now although I was wondering about that double click in N. SO everything seems to check out just fine on my car now.

As far as the VSS goes I plan to use the connector on the frame rail that comes from the hub.

I used the same bracket pictured above on mine, I had to shave it down to get closer to the pan as well.

I'm curious as to what new cable you used? Mine had issues at first by either going into P and not all the way down to 1st, or going into 1st and not all the way into P. It was a PITA to set up the first time.

So it is straight up to plug into the ABS for the VSS? No tuning or anything? Where exactly are you plugging in to pick up the ABS for the VSS into the hub itself or at the ABS block?
That thread give the wrong color wires for a LT1 car.

I can get you the part number if you want it. I just found it at pep boys. Its the same exact cable but thinner. Made the job 100% easier.

The Auto trans section tells you how to tune to get the correct speedo reading. For M6 cars its put in 2.76 for the gear then measure the front tire height and put that in for tire size. Auto car use a different formula. Im just going to use the ABS connector on the frame to hook the VSS to.

That P/N would be awesome! I ran that shifter 4 speed first, it just didn't seem to line up right like the 3 speed configuration. I'd like to give the thinner cable a shot.

Gotcha, I was wondering where to hook my VSS to the ABS, thanks.

So AC, are we in the final stretch before some 9 second (or lower) passes?

Na I still have the 355 in it. Might hit 9s as is but Im not counting on it right away. From what Ive read no ratchet shifter is really made for 4spds but they say they work.
Get you that PN when I get home.

A 355 will run hard though! This one isn't 4 speed friendly for sure... Awesome, I do appreciate it kind sir.

Thanks! Just have some final things to tweak and should hit the track Friday if the test drive goes good.
