Just a quick list:
  • Heads - Prolly some LE worked heads, beehive springs, (Do you have roller rockers? If not , get some 1.6 ratio Self Aligning roller rockers)
  • Cam - Want an off the self cam? Slight lope and mild gain? LT4 Hot. Want lope and good power with an off the self cam? CC 224/236. I have idle clips of both in my car if you want to hear. But if you're getting LE heads, best to let Lloyd spec the cam. He knows what his heads will work with best.
  • Fel pro 1074 head gaskets or if you want about another 1/2 point in compression the Impala SS stainless steel shim head gasket.
  • Fel Pro 1284 intake gaskets.
  • Since the intake will be off, good time to inspect/replace the oil pump drive gear. This thing can get knife edged over time. If it gets too far gone, there goes your oil pressure to zero(ask how I know).
  • New lifters. LS7 lifters work fine and aren't too pricey.
  • Timing set. You can get a stocker replacement or go double roller (Usually requires 'clearancing' the inside of your timing cover and, if you're engine has the crank misfire sensor, you have to ditch the reluctor/lose the sensor)
  • Oil Pan gasket
  • Harmonic balancer puller/installer
  • Timing cover gasket/seals
  • Water pump gaskets
  • Exhaust gaskets
  • Teflon paste
  • New ARP head bolts(some factory are torque to yield/one time use)
  • Silicone sealer(front and rear of the intake manifold to block rails)
  • Torque wrenches (ft pound and inch pound)
  • Torque spec's and techniques/patterns(first pass/second pass and alternating patterns to get even torque applications)
  • Solvent for cleaning parts
  • Special washers for the steam pipe on the back of the heads
  • Wire brush to clean bolts
Just off the top of my head. Price those items, tally it up, then add the labor(your own or someone elses). You can bet it's going to sound like too much, but that's just the way it is. You can cut a corner here or there but it's going to cost a good bit. But, if you and some friend(s) do it you'll have a great experience you can laugh about and admire for years to come. If this is your first time, it won't go perfect in all likelyhood but you'll learn a lot. Ask everyone for tips, gotchas and 'watch out for's. I've done four head swaps, an equal number of cams and some tear downs just to check on things. If everything goes perfectly, it'll probably take the weekend to do. This is because of cleanup of bolts, surfaces, torquing things properly, lubing lifters, setting lash, making sure the opti is on right, etc. You have to dismantle a lot of stuff to get the heads/cam out when the motor is still in the car. Wires, bolts, screws, injectors, intake, steam pipe on the back of the heads, accessory bracket, alternator, power steering pump, draining coolant, capping off the A/C, on and on...

They have a great looking site and I love the premise (LT1 specific engines, cleaned, machined and ready to install) I guess we're left to our own resources again.
They bought a reputation by advertizing people usually can't separate that from actual quality or rather lack of quality in actual work done.
Not the only popular vendor guilty.
