Default GM discontinued the LT1 pressure plate bolts. Now what?

The size of the stock pp bolts are 3/8-16 x 1.62 if I'm correct and they are grade 5. I have 5 out of 6 but would rather use grade 8. Bought a Spec stage 1 clutch and thought it would have come with new bolts.

Looking on Summit but so far they only have 1" and that's too short.

Ideas?

Spoke to Spec. They use 3/8 x 16 x 1 3/4" flange bolts. Off to ACE hardware.....

Ace had them. Had to go to 2 different stores since neither of them had a total of 6 but the transmission can go in now. Panic attack averted.

I found some at the dealership that were sitting in back. Brand new 1994 parts.

Glad you got it fixed.

I wish, when I called they said it was the bolt shoulder that was the issue. I had to buy a set from Mcleod.

Bringing this back up...

Has anyone seen these?
http://www.powertorquesystems.com/Co...late_Short.htm

Also, has anyone seen an offering from ARP yet? Someone claimed they make part # H5AJ1.600-1L but they weren't listed yet.

I just spoke with my engine builder (who also stated the original bolts have been discontinued from GM) after reading this thread - he said "Yes, get those bolts."

FYI - He told me that 'normal' grade 8 bolts would not work correctly due to the need for a non-threaded portion of the bolts to interface with the pp; this is required to properly locate the pp via the six tapered bolt holes which align the pp to the engine and flywheel.

The owner of power torque systems, Jim, is very knowledgable and confirmed what my engine builder said and (additionally) happily told me everything I ever wanted to know about the saga associated with LTx parts.

$33 is a small price to pay to have things aligned and working properly...

Just wanted to say that I got my PP bolts from Jim at Power Torque Systems in the link I posted and they look great. I can second everything great421 said about him, interesting and knowledgeable guy.

Here's a pic to confirm:
