Default LT1 Build plan while in the Air force

Well I'm Enlisted in the Air force and waiting to get my Job and ship out to Basic and Tech school and such going in as E3 and will be saving money to build a car the RIGHT way this time while having a DD. Been doing tons of research and have came up with this list of parts for when the time comes. I just want to have this all mapped out for when I'm ready to do it and want to see where my parts list stands compared to what you guys who run the respectable times.

Car will be a Weekend/Track car and how much I drive it will in all reality depend on where I'm stationed after Basic and Tech School. Want a 383 that will run 10's on motor and will flirt with 9's on the bottle.

-Compstar 3.750" Stroke 4340 Crankshaft
-Compstar 6.000" H-Beam Rods
-SRP Forged Pistons
-Cloyes Timing Set
-ARP Hardware
-AI 200CC stock castings/AI 21* or 23* Head (Will talk to them when the time comes as to what head will be best)
-Custom cam
-Comp Ultra Pro Mags
-TPIS 58MM TB
- Trickflow Pushrods and Guide plates
-Pacesetter LT
-Performabuilt 4L60E want OD
-S60
-Injectors for motors needs
-Want to keep the Opti AND stock intake to keep it looking like a stock LT1 appearance but the 24x conversion might be considered when the time comes
- Splayed Mains
-Clevite Rod Bearings
-Clevite Main Bearings
-Clevite Cam Bearings
-Nitrous Outlet kit
- Full suspended with tublar K member and A arms

I expect this to take years to do. Like stated plan is to find a nice F-body and keep it as a DD while I build all this and gather parts for one day doing the swap. Like I said I want to do this right this time. I know I took short cuts and didn't do the needed research and jumped into it. But Opinions are what I want here on the parts list and anything i've missed or should consider

I've heard CP pistons are a little better than the SRP's but other than that it's a pretty good start, but I'm not lt guru like alot of guys here.

Welcome to the service man. They haven't told you your job yet? I recommend trying to go Aircrew like loadmaster or boom operator. You make more money and if you get the right plane see the world on the governments dime.

Compstar one piece rear main cranks are no longer in production.

I would do a Mahle or CP piston before SRP.

I would not spend a dime with TPIS.

I would just get the valvetrain from AI rather than specifically looking at Trickflow pushrods.

I would not use Performabuilt, my ProBuilt is pushing 8 years old and was built for a mild cam only setup.

Ahh damn I seen where a company was using them in LT1's short blocks must have misread
What would you you guys recommend on the crank. Scat? Callies?

On the TB I liked my Holly piece I had on my first motor but I seen horror stories with the Blade screws coming out but that is probably with all of them. And will probably have everything like you said with the valve train through AI like I said just an outline of what I want. I've seen a lot of people have luck with the Performabuilt trannys too but that doesn't mean I will I'll look into all my options

Delayed Enlistment program is where I'm at now sworn in and such though. I was going to be out in Colorado with some type of rocket operation systems but my Old man sight at the age of 19 screwed me

Good plan, however don't put anything into writing until you get to that time. You may just decide to skip it alltogether and go for a C6 Vette.

Great buildup plan I have a similar setup for my new engine and I have a Howards Tracksmart 4340 forged crank and H beam rods with Mahle forged powerpac pistons, billet splayed 4 bolt main caps etc. How much spray are you planning on running if more than a 150 shot I would go with a 2618 forged piston otherwise a good solid build, by the way I have a Holley 58mm tb for sale if you're interested pm me. Here are some pics of the tb and my new engine:

I'd much rather stick with an LT1. Was my first REAL car that had any true value to me maybe a LS Trans AM as my DD then do the saving for this. But like you said my plans can do a complete 180 just a plan I have as of right now........

**** I don't even have my job in the AF yet that should probably be the first thing on my mind :O
