ws6 hood ideas?
Ive always wanted a ws6 hood 96-97. I have a chance to buy one in primer for cheap. Problem is painting it, and the color of my car. Ive never seen a patriot red trans am with a ws6 hood on it to start with. Ive also been thinking about paint options.
Car domain seems to be superfucked up right now because they think technology is important so i cant upload pics of what i want to do. Imagine a ws6 hood, painted matte or satin black. then the raised part, the entire raised part, has a vynel decal on it thats color matched to the car. The car will have black 17x9.5 Torque thrust M's. And im thinking about carrying some matte or satin black back to the sail panel and the top of the spoiler.
Any opinions? basically im doing this because it would be a CHEAP pain job, and with the matte black seperating the 2 colors, it might not be as easy to tell if they dont quite match.

Ok here are pics..
I think the first one looks better, and wouldnt be that hard to do with a competant graphic "artist"
The more i think about it the more i want to do it this way. Alot of people will do the "scoop" black on a SS hood or cowl hood or whatever. I think it would be cool to do it opposite.

If you did it like that you wouldn't have to worry so much about the original color matching the hood (that is if you don't paint the rest of the body) and having to blend the hood with the surrounding panels. Which in turn will cost more at a body shop.

formula joe...exactly my reasoning for doing it that way lol. It will be close, but wont matter as much if its off.
My car is Patriot red, the dark red, which like i said ive never seen a patriot red trans am ws6 lol. The top of the hood would be the same color with the outside being matte/satin black.
I also have 4 17x9.5 american racing TTM's in black with polished lip to go on the car soon, that that will go with the black on the hood too.
I said screw it and went and bought the hood. here she is in all her lt1 ws6 style glory lol

Check and adjust for fitment prior to paint and final assembly, don't cut vents out untill you have the extractor screens so the fit will be right.. eBay key words "TransAm hood screens"

I have the same hood that i bought off ebay for 299. Then had it painted black by maaco for 100 bucks. It came with plastic grilles that melted and twisted badly. The grilles on ebay the stainless mirrors for 85 i'm sold. Is your hood factory? What is it made of fiberglass, urathane, or steel?

This hood was bought local from a place called liberty fiberglass. It came with plastic vents and the ram air ports and vents got drilled out when i picked it up. it had perferations in the mold so when they got drilled out they literally just popped out and left enough matrial to clue or even screw the grills into the vents. Guy said they have been building hoods for 20 years so id hope the fit is good.
Got a friend of a friend who will paint it gloss black for 150, i might check maaco if they are 100$. I think gloss black with the top part red would look good, and it would be different which is hard to do these days with these cars.
