What ends do you have on your cables, it may not have a good connection. I bought the large copper ones, used the bench vice to crimp the wire in the end then heated it with a torch and filled it with solider.

I used the large copper ones as well. They are crimped on with a huge crimp tool. They won't come off unless they are cutoff, they are on there that tight

Just to make sure I'm understanding, you have good voltage at the battery + with the engine running (alt working) and key on/ off engine not running.

When you crank it the voltage at the starter drops?

If the voltage at the battery doesn't drop at the same rate at the voltage at the starter there's a connection issue. Either the battery + post, one of the connections on the switch or at the starter, maybe even the battery ground.

If the voltage drop is the same try another battery and see if the problem persists.

I was chasing a voltage drop/ clicking when cranking and checked and rechecked every connection. It ended up being an issue with the theft deterrent/ starter relay.

I'd post the link to the details but LTXTech isn't up right now. When it comes back up it's in the electronics section under "battery clicking after relocation". Chasing electrical issues after what seems like a simple modification sucks big time and I feel your pain, you'll get it eventually!

*EDIT* Just say your post in the drag tech section, I use starter part #17124 from Advance Auto. It's for a 96 Vette, smaller and cheaper than the Camaro starter, lifetime warranty and cranks my 12.5:1 385 without any problems.

I'm getting the Volts drop at the battery side when cranking. I would assume it would drop down a little bit then crank up, however it drops real low, down to 9s and takes for every to crank. I didn't try testing it right at the starter... Seems a little dangerous trying to start the car lifted in the air with me underneath it with leads touching the starter that I'm adding power to. Any insight?

Either get some clips you can attach to the starter so you can see the meter from the driver seat or have a buddy help you!

Hey Josh, Curious about the starter you listed *EDIT* Just say your post in the drag tech section, I use starter part #17124 from Advance Auto. It's for a 96 Vette, smaller and cheaper than the Camaro starter, lifetime warranty and cranks my 12.5:1 385 without any problems.
The starter looks totally different. Is it compatiable with what needed liket the VATSpurple wire that connects along with the ground and power wire? I just wante to make sure that it bolts right up or modifications need done. Thanks

Yea it looks different but it bolts right up. It's smaller which also helps with header clearance. The large bolt is for the battery + and the smaller for the purple trigger wire. If you go to a local Advance Auto ask for a starter for a 96 Corvette.
