If you don't want to rev past 6100 then there's no need for any head work. That's the truth.

Can I get one that's choppy as heck but still performs well with stock bottom end if i go custom grind? I want to perform better than stock obviously but have a pretty nasty sound from the cam alone, then i'll worry about the exhaust work.
That depends on your bottom end. If it's sound then yep, no problem. Any of the cam grinder folks can make it as "choppy" as you'd like. With an automatic be prepared for some jerking around 45-50 MPH when the converter locks up. Many people call this cam surge and it's sometimes a bear to get out of there.

You may want to worry about the exhaust when you do the upgrade though. There's no sense in putting all that gas and air in there if it's going to hit a log jam at the exhaust port. It sounds like you're getting a plan together. Stick with it. ---Gunny---

IMO for what you are asking id run the AI 190cc GM heads and their 230/238 cam or similar......well meet your goals and still be driveable and durable and not spin crazy rpm

New topic; won't the cam surge be taken care of with tune, converter and gears?

I'll be contacting LE soon and see of they'll be able to recommend something better suited than the cc306 or even cc305? I think people run with stock heads & intake.

Update on the planned set up as of now, with a few questions.

It's looking like i'll go with a custom cam from LE that'll perform well for 6200-6300 rpm spins.

His LE2 Heads.

Ported intake (later, when money allows for it)

3200-3600 stall? Should i just go with the 3600? Will that still be somewhat streetable? with 3.73s as long as i pick up an auto.

Exhaust wise probably pacesetter lt's, the budget header
and torn between running a true dual set up with a universal X just dumped or a cat back, the true duals would probably be cheaper. Whats that borla muffler everyone loves Xr1 or something.

Fuel injectors & pump upgraded. Now need help where/ and what pump to get? 32lb injectors or 36 and call it a day?
