Headers for WS6 (Race or EGR?)
I have a 1997 WS6 and want to add headers. I think I will get pacesetter long tubes with ceramic coating. I cant decide if I should get the race headers and get rid of the air, egr and clutter that goes with them. I would like to hear from some of you and what your opinions are. I dont live where inspections are an issue. I have heard that I will have to get a tuner to get rid of codes if I delete the egr, which tuner do you recommend. Thanks

Deleting EGR and AIR are easy, but you'll want to elminate the EGR from the tune, get a set of block off plates for the intake. Not having the AIR plumbing makes getting to the plugs easier and makes for a neater appearance. The 2239s are nice entry level headers and will last a while.

No handheld tuner will be able tune out features in your cars PCM. A mailorder or a local tuner that does LT1s can edit out EGR and AIR for you. Also when you do headers you normally want to have it tuned to get some more power out of your car. Unless you think you are going to move to a state where your going to need emissions most do with out and get a tune to edit out AIR and EGR while making adjustments after putting the headers on your car to make it perform better. Its a win win.

Madz28, now called madtuner is what i used and many on here with great results for getting your car tuned. You can also check out pcmforless and google search a few others but i'd recommend madz from my experience.
I added long tubes and got rid of all the emissions crap this past year, best thing you can ever do. And i live in a somewhat emission testing area
