What flex plate did you use? I need a sfi rated one and it will have to be external balance and correct teeth. Been looking at dual mounting points as well for the tq converter. Gonna take the trans over to my trans guy at proformance racing transmissions. He said he would go through it for me and check it out. Still trying to source my rearend and if I don't get the one I have been trying to get off a local guy i guess I will go get the S60

Well got some updates. I ordered the s60 rearend and spoke with Marty at Neal Chance about torque converter options. From that conversation we had, I will be going with his Nitrous converter. Specs are 2700 rpm foot brake, 4500 rpm on the trans brake, with shift rpm never dropping below 5200 while on nitrous. Just a few more things to order like the shifter and cable, and flex plate. Once I get the rear end in the car I will send out the driveshaft to get modified.

I'm really looking forward to getting this all in and see what this set up will run. I'm sure I will have a lot of test and tune to dial all the suspension in and get the car to hook. Hopefully the car will run a decent number when all is said and done. I know when it runs full out at the track that I will get the boot. Man this **** is getting expensive. Guess I am getting to the point of no return.

No cage, no chute... No nhra license... Can't do it all over the winter. It will be working on launch, get it dialed in..... Give it hell and out the back door.

At least get the cage in so you will know how it launches. The cage will change it

Yeah Ellis I know. It's just convincing the wife that's the problem. In just the past couple weeks i have dumped over 5k into the car. She isn't exactly happy about it, but in reality the cash has been side money. Have to see where it stands come Feb and make a decision.

Jerry, I would love nothing more than to have you do my cage. I would know for sure I would be safe. Always loved the story behind when your car got tech'd and they were taking notes on how you did it. I think I am aproaching the point of no return with the car. I just don't like the idea of having the cage and still driving it on the street. Hate to have my head bounce off it with no helmet in an accident. That has always stuck in the back of my mind.

Congrats on the swap. I have seen a number of friends try to race their M6 cars ***** out at the track... and suffer a lot of breakage... and end up converting to TH350/400.

In fact, there's another friend of mine with a fairly well-known LTx car that is about to go auto...

If you get the cage made to fit by someone who knows what they are doing, they can get the top bar right up tight against the roof, just behind the seat. Then with a proper 5-point harness there is no way in hell your head can hit any of the bars. Those bolt-in kits don't fit as good as a custom bent one. I can't even hit any of the bars WITH my helmet on when i'm strapped in and i'm 6'2". A 6-point chromoly cage only adds 45-50lbs to the car and it makes it substantially stiffer and stronger. It's one of the best mods you can do for a car.

x2. i do not like a big power car with no bars or safety equipment. if you get to that point, i feel like its time to start a 2nd car. one for the street, one for fun.
a 398 with 250 shot should be good for mid 8's in a 3000 lb car that is decently setup.

Yeah, what started off as just a fun toy has escalated a bit. With a car capable of the times it should run, all your ducks have to be in a row or it gets ugly fast. My problem is I get bored fast. Drive my cars for awhile and then start building them up. This one just went faster than normal. We have the two other fbodies here to cruise with. My problem is though, I like mine the best and is close to what i want in a completed built car. Goal was always to have a street/strip car that can go out to car shows and cruise nights but also run the time I wanted.

As for the cage, I know it has to have it. Always knew from day one. I too am tall and my head is only 1-2 inches from the t tops. I have to have a high backed race seat so there isn't an ugly situation if ever in an accident. Been looking for quite some time on the route I will go. I am fortunate enough to have people like Jerry Clayton to give me advice for the path to take. Just don't see it happening in the next few months. It does have to happen though, that's for sure.

What kind of times are you hoping for with everything dialed in?

I would be happy with low 9's high 8's. Guess we will see what it does on motor and then make the decision on what shot i will run. It's built to take a 250 shot. This car is just a toy but it will get driven quite a bit on the street.

I'm in the same boat and I have a convertible. My track car is a 68 with a full cage. Basically my 94 is pointless, but fun on the street.
