I'm interested in the answer to this question as well. I'm qondering If I should rebuild what I have, or buy a new motor all together. I had a 383 Stroker, and I'd like to go that route again.

If you are willing to travel to Maryland I know of an excellent machine shop that has been building LTx/LSx engines for the last 12+ years. They have been noted as being one best machine shops along the eastern seaboard.

all i can say to you is do not cut any corners to save $$.........saving $400 now will be a loss of 2k down the road........its not worth it........i refuse to build an engine for a customer and cut corners to make it cheap and appealing........theres many many places to go wrong in machine work and nearly 100% of the rebuild failures you see are caused by this.....for instance boring a block.......many people dont realize the actuall procedure for getting a proper bore and hone on a block........

in your area Golen is the best Aint real cheap on their short & long blocks but a rebuild or stroker from your parts should be way cheaper
