I like the fact i have a lt1 over a ls1 i like playing the underdog but thats the cool part if i beat a ls motor I brag my *** off . If i lose i can say oh well the lt1 gave it a nice try . Lose in a ls1 and everyone says damn guy can drive worth crap ! LOL

Yes...with the exception of Taners 8 second 6 speed and Big Ricks Turbo setup. LTs aren't bad platforms, but to be fast you have to know what you are doing. So often I see guys run too small of a stall or the wrong gearing or a small cam/bad heads etc. The beauty of LS1s is that you can really do whatever you want and still be fast. Making 350 bolt ons only is nice as well. Not bashing LTs I had 3 but you can't be afraid to not go with something other than a cc503 and 3200 stall, if you don't you can have fun in the 12s

i've had both motors and dealt with both quite a bit. i will say that the ls1 is better in every aspect, hands down. those of you comparing aftermarket lt/ls combos are funny. i can find many 1.6L 4 banger motors that make both the sbc engines look silly. once the aftermarket is introduced, everything goes out the window.
i think the lt1s generally failed because there was very little investment in them from gm. they had a short life and the results speak for themselves.

So, some stupid redneck with a 150 hp gen 1 small block was sneering at your LT1? Who gives a ****?
If you really feel the need to get back at him, bone his sister/wife while he is out back trying to get 155 hp out of his turd.

On The Tree
I think the LT1 gave the Vette some credibility worldwide. A 1984 Corvette ran 0-60 in 7.1 seconds and the 1/4 in about 15.5. The LT1 stopped the worldwide sneering of America's sports car because it was as fast as nearly anything with a 5.5 0-60 and a quarter of 14.1. That's not bad for 1992 when no one had really figured out how to make horsepower with the mandated emissions standards. The LT4 was nearly the equal of the LS1 in terms of performance, reliability and horsepower.
Yes, the LS series of engines are good but they are only a natural part of the evolutionary process. In a couple of years they will be obsolete technology as well. The LT engines had great reliability. Many used in police car duty were sold after 100,000 miles or so to the cab companies that ran them to well over 300,000 miles. Many of them are still running.
My 1995 Impala had 240,000 on the original engine and it ran perfectly. Same Opti just a different cap and rotor. I only removed it to get the horsepower up to over 500. It's still a daily driver and runs great. Same original opti.
I'm building an engine to replace the 175,000 mile LT1 in my 1995 Vette. No problems, except for a leaky water pump drive seal. The Opti is completely oil soaked and it just doesn't care. Been that way for a couple of years. It too will be 500+ horsepower and a daily driver.
The LT series of engines looked more like the iconic SBC that has been around since 1955 and it is still a good looking engine. The LS series will never have the engine swap/hot rodder appeal because they are.........well, just ugly, but that is a subjective opinion. Some people like heavier women and some like pretty girls.
It might just be me but I prefer the looks of a traditional SBC to the LS engines and performance can be real close. It may cost a bit more but to me......it's worth it.
What's not to like? Clean, uncluttered and about 500 Horsepower
