The LT1 was actually a really good maine engine with all the torque it made down low.
Why couldn't they run that system in the cars? Just wondering?

A buddy gave me a 5.3 out of an 06 avalanche and I was gonna swap but after I found out what all was involved and costs just to sit it in there stock, much less modded I may just continue with my 383 LT1 plans. Plus I like being the odd guy in town lol

You could I guess. From what Ive heard Indmar figured out early that the optispark was going to be a reliability problem in marine use so they switched. I think around the same time the delteq ignition system came out for LT1s and was pretty similar.

I paid $125 for a complete running LT1 out of a caprice. I used the block and crank in my 95 and sold the rest for $100

Where do you find these people... When I was LQ4 shopping the cheapest thing I could find was $600 for the shortblock only.

Awww, c'mon man, quit talking about those ugly azz motors. LT engines FTW.

LSx engines are made from recycled Old Milwaukee and Pabst beer cans
LTx engines are American Iron. It's a no brainer.

In so cal they are everywhere so they are cheap. Complete pullouts with a trans, computer, pcm and harness are about 600 complete intake to oil pan. Swap the truck intake for a stock LS1 and modify the pan and you are pretty much good to go

I know they are cheap, I'm not saying they aren't im just tired of people saying they won't swap one in because they are too expensive when clearly they arent if you do it right.

No but mods on a ls gain alot more than a lt. If money was given to you to buy a motor would you buy a ls or a lt?

That's because LS heads flow more from the get-go, but when it comes to a budget build I'd go LT all the way. Slap a turbo on that $125 B-body LT1 and don't look back.

if the car already had an LT1 i would probably stick with it, honestly. why change all that stuff in the car so you can swap to an LS and pick up 30-40rwhp? you can go 9's with a heads/cam LT1 with a 150 shot in a 3100 lb car. when it comes time to freshen it up, the LT1 will be cheaper than the LS.

Has any lt cars got 400 rwhp with lt's, baby cam, and tune? What does a lt run stock? Mine ran 12.9 stock.

You're comparing apples to oranges. Like I said before, the stock LS1 heads flow much better than stock LT1 heads, especially when it comes to exhaust.

http://carprogrammer.com/Z28/Cylinde..._head_flow.htm

Given a leveler like ported LE's, a M6 car will have no problem producing around 400 with a baby LT4 Hotcam.

my LT1 car had suckahomo's with a 1/2" strip of cord showing in the centers.... went 8.19 with a 1.94 60' on those. 230/236 cam, self ported heads, mailorder tune. all stock suspension aside from eibach pro springs and slp takeoff shocks. 93 m6 car with 3.42 gear.

dont wanna turn this into another lt1 vs ls1 debate, but your point is irelevant. Dont change the subject, a "baby cam" in two completely different engines is also irrelevant. Im talking about gains, not a specific 1/4 mile time.
