Default Trans Cooler?

Just wanted to know what trans cooler you guys running? (part # and cost?)
easy install?

how are you all keeping tabs on trans temp. Currently running a 2500 stall, i know its mild but i wanna keep the trans temp in check? Any trans temp guage you all would recommend?

I run a B&M SuperCooler. They are all pretty much the same though. I think mine cost like $50 or something along those lines a few years ago. They are pretty simple to install, just two lines tied into the factory cooler - that's it.

If you want to run a trans temp gauge the best thing to do is weld a bung into the trans pan.

do you have a part #? what size is it? sorry, coming from trucks back to f-bodies is a big difference.

had a huge trans cooler on my 08 Sierra with a 3000 stall circle d verter. helped A LOT! was also helpful having a temp guage on my truck

Don't really remember the size, BUT it's certainly a case where there's no such thing as oversized. Get the biggest one you're comfortable with putting in front of your radiator (or wherever else you decide to put it).

as for the temp gauge, id suggest an aeroforce interceptor gauge. Youre gonna need an auxilary cable of some type to get a reading from the transmission. Im not sure exactly how that works, but they have the info on their website. Ive got one, and it reads all kinds of different things. Its like an all-in-one for gauges.

Ditto for me with a temp gauge tucked nicely right in the center AC vent. It's like it was made for it.

Always use a plate style cooler, not the tube type.

Earls plate coolers are the best but most expensive. B&M coolers are way cheaper but don't look as well made as the Earls. And B&M's are made in Mexico.

On my TA, I use Earls for oil & trans cooling. On my '03 Blazer, I'm installing the B&M cooler.

i run that one got it mounted up in my front bumper right behind one of my fog light holes.........even with a 5000 stall converter ive never seen temps over 210 even on a 90 degree day driving the car in town........i can hot lap the car at the track on an 80 degree day and stay under 200.......in a more normal application id be supprised to see temps over 170 with it...........also weld a bung in your pan for a temp gauge best money spent....

i thought about going with a dual pillar pod and mounting the trans temp and air fuel ratio on there.

I used one of those before and it worked fine too, but the only problem with those is that they get beat up pretty quickly since the fins are so thin.

how bout something like this?... http://www.jegs.com/i/Derale/259/13950/10002/-1

I'm not sure if it's overkill but the other B&M cooler I have looks like garbage and I've had too many transmission issues so I'd like to make sure that it never overheats.

If I remember the part number correctly I run a tru-cool #4590. I believe it was 12 x 11 x 1 1/2 thick . I liked it b/c its the biggest I could fit and its also a stacked plate thats
1 1/2 thick. Oh its also a Low pressure drop cooler.

Im not sure if your B&M cooler was the problem with your trans, maybe it was your right foot!? haha I think a guage will make sure how well any trans cooler works.

Ive used tru-cool, had one on my 08 Sierra, that thing kept temps down big time. On my heavy *** truck on 22's full bolt ons on 3000 stall, it daily drove at about 155-165 @ 100 degree weather. At the track it never climbed over 180.

Ill have to look into that cooler, you mentioned. I just dont want such a snug fit.
