Default Volant Installed!!

Well, the install actually was relatively easy. Had to make a couple minor modification to the Volant itself (grind down the front left and right edges for hood clearance and shave about a 1/4" of material on the filter side of the assembly that connects the filter and the MAF to allow the filter to slide back further and clear the hood). Here's some pics of the finished product.

Honestly I'm not sure...we traded the stock hood for it and only ever found one other pic of one online.

If the Volant fits I gotta believe a stock LS1 lid assembly would fit. That was actually our back up plan, if the volant wouldn't work I was installing it on my 99 and he was getting my lid assembly. I didn't prefer the lid on the LT1 because you have to cut away metal to get airflow up to the filter.

Mine has been cut for a few years now. I want the entire set up on there now...... it will get plenty air especially with the new ram air ducting .... if you happen to get a chance would you test fit your lid assembly onto the Lt1. I am buying a Hood come tax time and its either the Harwood or the VFN sunoco Hood.

I'll see if I can mock it up...the boy wants to paint the whole car now, so we'll see what kind of time I have.

Well I looked at mocking up the LS1 lid today, but took some measurements first and I could tell right away there no way the lid assembly fits unless you can figure out away to move the entire assembly closer to the intake by about 2 full inches. The front edge is simply too tall. The harwood appear to be stock height from about two inches in front of the scoop which is just far enough to prevent the ls1 lid from working. Sorry man.

I know this tread is very old, but lately I been thinking about getting the same intake, the one with the two filters thought.

You think it will fit under my hood? I have a ws6 2 hood
