Omit steam pipe completely? how to?

Can you completely omit steam pipe from vehicle and just tie head to head or does it have to run to radiator?

The idea behind it is to let air and steam escape upwards. If you just tie the sides together where will trapped air go other than fill and block that crossover?

The heads will not purge themselves of steam and they will run hotter than normal, possibly disastrously so. The temp guage bulb might be in this air bubble and not pick up the higher coolant temp........not good.

Epic fail, head hot spots leading to improper air bleeding and a gasket failure . Lowes has 1/4 Npt brass fittings that you can retro fit a new setup in for a few bucks .
