Question Baer Brakes?

Is anyone running the older dual piston (4611003) front caliper 13" setup from Baer. These are for the 93-97 Fbody. I'm thinking about this kit as bear has some pretty good prices on their older new stock. Let me know how you like it and how the fitment was? If you have TTM wheels even better as I'm trying to see if they will clear my 17" TTMs? Thanks.

I agree, and it's me asking about brakes in another thread. Neil sent me those links and the Baer kit looks nice and great deal. I'd love to do the C5 kit but to work with my TTM's I'm going to have to run a spacer and I'm hesitant to do that as I've had friends run spacers and their lugs would back off randomly. The C5 caliper is a little too deep for the TTMs and that's why for the spacer.

Yeah that's why I deleted the post after realizing it was you. Derp...
Got it. Good call on not wanting to run a spacer. Good luck.

Dude, you need to contact Baer directly....according to their ad on ebay: "We do not take the system back if it does not clear your wheels. There are templates to check your wheels for fitment, contact us and we can email or mail them to you." (Wow ....these are way cheaper than the c5 conversion..better scoop em up )

The ebay ones don't even have holes for the wheels studs and one add says 12 rotors the other 13 but both have that part number. Great price at 500 for them but I would be worried that there not fake from ebay

Being the calipers are physically half the size of a C5, it's no wonder.

Do you know what offset and backspace your TTII's are? I know on mine the fronts are 17x9 with a +45mm offset and 6.75 backspace. The TTII's have spokes that curve around more and have more clearance issues with depth on the C5 brakes, and the TTM's have less of a clearance problem so the depth outta be good. Did you run any spacers or is the depth good?

Quick update guys:

Ordered the Baer kit today directly from Baer as they are going to powercoat them red for me as well. The total came out to around $650 (including the powdercoating) shipped. Very excited to get this kit installed as it will look and perform incredibly.

Kit included:

Baer Track Kit (4301010)
Calipers
Pads
Mounting brackets
13" Cross drilled and slotted rotors
Stainless Braided lines
Red Powdercoating

Incredible deal if you ask me as Baer brakes are excellent quality and I'm really looking for the better stopping power. The kit will clear without any issues as I used their template and with the TTM's I'm showing about .25 clearance all around for caliper to rim and rotor to rim. The C5 brakes would have been nice, but these will perform just as well, are cheaper (whole setup) and will fit my current rim setup without spacers or grinding. I'll followup with pics in a few weeks once I get them installed. Lastly, I want to commend Baer for excellent customer service as their Techs are very knowledgable and worked with me quite a bit to check everything out before my purchase. Their website may suck (currently being updated) but their phone and email support was excellent.

Great pic and thanks. I'm really looking forward to getting them installed as I've always been disappointed in the braking of these cars, especially after I started driving my DD car - BMW 330i. Worlds of difference!!!!

The swept area is horrible on those brakes. It looks like it would be lucky to be half of what my c5 setup is.

Quick update - brakes are installed and took me a while as after I cut the spindles and went to install them, I realized they sent me the wrong caliper brackets as teh calliper would not reach the mounting plate. Called Baer and they remidied it real quick and overnighted me the correct bracket for the larger 13" rotors in my track kit. Cutting the spindle actually went pretty smooth using my dewalt sawzall and some wd40, and the angle grinder my wife got me for christmas came in real handy smooting the spindles out. Here's a before and after pic of the spindle so you can get an idea of the material removed on the LT1 spindles.

After:

Once all that was done the brakes look wayyyy better and I'm eager to get them out and season the rotors as well as bed the pads, but the weather here in Houston sucks right now. Here are some before and after pics:

I have what turned out to be that kit. I bought 13" brakes off a C4 and bought an adapter off someone who already had his setup. I run my stock WS6 wheels with no mods needed to them.

My parent's bought the Bear kit on both Comp TA's after I did mine. They fit the Comp TA wheels and also the Magnesium Vette wheels with no mods.
