Intake manifold? The only practical alternative is the Edelbrock which is a waste of $465 for what has in some cases shown to be a slight LOSS. So in that case the stock intake is an excellent choice.

Torque converter the car would probably drive with the stock one but at the track I bet the cam wouldn't make the car any faster you really do need to do a decent stall with it a 9.5" unit absolute minimum stall in those is 2800 but most guys are happy with the drivability of even 32-3400 on mild street cars, a lot of heads/cam guys go 36-4000. Just buy a good converter I feel comfortable recommending Edge Yank and Vigilante. Yank might be the best of those three, Edge has always worked great for me and is a few hundred dollars cheaper because it has a stamped cover where the other two are billet. There are definitely some bad brands out there too so if you consider something you can't find info here on ASK first.

I would discourage you from using Revmax, Edge is the least expensive 9.5" I know of that is good. If you want even cheaper than them you can try TCI which is usually considered "hit or miss" and hope you are a lucky one that has it work.

The last 3 converters I have had in my car were Edge or restalled Edge, liked them all just kept changing the car around them hence one replacement and then a restall. Been very happy Andre is great to work with, at the same time I would like to try a Yank once as I think the car would MPH a little better.

I agree Edge is a good budget converter and I wouldn't consider anything lower [cheaper] if you're actually expecting decent gains. I've had great luck with Precision Industries and their service over the years. I've had 3 different converters from them in my car.

Dwayne is spot on with the intake manifold info.

I have a revmax 3400 and am very happy with it (knew the from the diesel world). They have great customer service and an awesome price. Do any of the folks who say don't use them have actual experience with them?

Do you have any experience with any other converters?

I haven't use a Revmax and haven't seen a lot of people use them, but those that I have seen ended up not happy.

Often times people are happy with things simply because they don't know any better.

Thank you for proving my point.

I have experience with all but edge and for anyone on a budget I would not hesitate to recommend revmax. Vig and yank are good products but their cost compared to the value of these cars make them harder to justify.

Often times people discourage the use of a product because they don't know any better.

I remember when pacesetter long tubes were complete crap, then people started using them.

I have seen bad things on forums from Revmax though.

What does your car run. Have you run the same setup just changing the converter?

I have a tci 3500 in my car, I got it for 170$ used, came out of a show car that didnt get much use. Alot of people told me not to do it, i didnt listen.

That being said its been down the track 20-30 times and was daily drivin befor the cam swap. and it hasnt blown up or anything yet. I didnt send it anywhere to get checked out, i just put it in the car. And i didnt know anything about the owner that i bought it from.

that being said.... I wish i got a different converter. Somethings will just sit in the back of your head, wondering when its gonna happen...My TCI converter blowing up is one of the things i always think about. Any converter can go bad though, installation is key.

I would get a yank. I was on a tight budget back then and just wanted a stall. Now i wish i wouldve saved up for another month or 2 and gotten a yank 3200 or 3600.

well with all that said iv been running the revmax for 2 years now. and have beat the hell out of it! i spent alot of money on converters for my other car so its not a matter of me not knowing any better. how does a 1.56 60' sound? oh and i drove it to the track 45 min away. i have head nothing but good things from the people that have revmax converters. anything bad iv head is from people that nut swing off what they have read on line about yank, edge, vig or any of the other bigger names being the best there is.

By comparison I drive my car 150miles EACH way to the track and clip off 1.53 in an over 2 ton car and might make 10 passes in a single day and a few times have driven all the way down to GLD twice in a weekend to do so. If I drive that far to go racing I make sure I get my passes in. There is a track closer but it sucks.
