Default Oil pan gasket replacement

Currently have the pan completely unbolted and sitting on the K-member for a cam swap and I wanted to know if the oil pan gasket can be replaced without having to lower the K-member or loosen the motor mounts and jacking the motor up. I know the dip stick tube has to come out, but will the gasket go in easily at this time? Thanks.

I have always had to jack the engine up to get the pan off. Not a big deal though, an extra half an hour.

What I did was go under the pan with the front of the gasket from the back of the motor, then around the pan, and over on to the top..I had my tranny out at the time so you might not have enough room that way but might be able to from the front.

It might be tough to keep it clean with a dirty k member, but I did it with a dirty k member. Just wiped it down with a towel and degreaser before I bolted her up. Didn't have to jack the motor up or anything.

It can be done. Just take your time and make sure to CLEAN the mating surfaces between the pan and the block.GL.

Stretch the gasket around the outside of the pan. Make sure it's clean first.
Also, make sure to put clean rags around the front of the pan while doing your cam swap. There's a lot of gap of the pan exposed and will act like a catch all...

you can leave it all bolted up. Just drop the pan enough to squeeze the gasket out and the new one in. DONe
