I'm using the SJM Manufacturing abs delete kit. Is it the best, hard to say but it works fine for me.

I too am using the SJM kit. Contrary to popular belief, you don't have to run a line lock if you would prefer not to.

I ordered the SJM kit. While a nice kit my motor guy laughed at me for purchasing it. Seems I should ask him about things from now on and save some money. Also did not use a line lock.

SJM here as well... only thing that was realy needed from the whole kit was the solenoid and Proportioning valve... everything else can be had at a local parts store if you can piece it together cheaper.

oh and do yourself a favor a buy a GOOD flare tool... the one that comes with the kit is cheap and broke after making 2 lines properly.

Not sure if you know, but bending and flaring brake lines can be a real pain in the *** unless you have a quality flaring tool to use. Not the cheap crap from Autozone either. For those who have experience bending and flaring, it's not at all an advantageous purchase whereas those who would rather have a pretty much plug/play bundle, it's worth the cost to not have to deal with leaking brake lines.

Well lets put it this way, he came over, laughed at the flaring tool they sent me, used his own badass one, and because I wasn't using a line lock he still had to bend and cut some of the factory stuff to work and bend what was included in the kit.

I'm just saying in my boat I had better access to resources and I admit I was too stupid to utilize them.

Even when reading the instructions, its not just take it out of the box and the world is a happy place, their kit is almost built around the assumption that you are going to run a line lock.

I know I should have done this when the engine was out but it all came down to funds.

How much of a PITA is it to do with the engine in?

it's not bad at all with the engine in... everything is done along the drives side fender, all i had to do was remove the intake.

Just a question here: can u educate me on why u would not want to use a line lock and use this kit to delete abs? Weight savings or something other?

So this would be more of a track car only deletion with a trans brake?

Are you talking about the Cold Air Intake to the throttle body or the Actual Intake Manifold? When I see the word INTAKE I assume you are talking about the Intake Manifold and that doesnt seem to make sense that you would have to remove the Intake Manifold to install an ABS Delete Kit and Line Lock!

If you use the Line Lock as part of the kit, is it a plug and play or do you still have to bend and flare lines?

the intake tubing, the manifold will stay put... if you touch anything on the heads... slap yourself.

edit--- also this may beer the alcohol talking... but, you will have to cut the three lines that go into the abs block and bend them to their respective places along with putting a "T" fitting on the two smaller front lines... it's pretty straight forward once you just jump in and start making the plunge into it all... looks daunting at first glance, but really... other than the annoying flare fittings you have to make it's pretty damn easy ( as long as you can read a diagram that is)

I guess I must have partaken in the pre-bent/flared lines option. There was a little work that had to be done to the stock lines, but not much. Absolutely if you have the means to do the lines then don't order the kit. Just get a proportioning valve and go to town.

I did it because it makes bleeding the brake lines much easier and my ABS block has sat dormant for over 11 years. I've always just heal and toed a burnout so I didn't see the point in installing one.

Weight reduction, more room to work, its cleaner looking(not that I have a show car, my engine compartment is not worth taking a picture of).

I wouldn't say track only. I didn't have ABS when I learned to drive, I don't need it. I view GM ABS systems as wonky anyway, my brother tells me the other day his 03 Cavalier decided the ABS didn't have to work as he was sliding towards that deer down the road.

Is SMJ a sponsor? Could someone tell me how to search for sponsors? Can it be done by what I'm looking for? Like if I was looking for a kit to ditch the ABS stuff, can I search for what sponsors supply them? I found SMJ Manufacturing on the net and I think their prices are a bit high but having something plug N play has some appeal.

Al 95 Z28 w/S60 soon to have a line lock and no ABS.

If you're handy with a bender and a flaring tool, the same thing can be made in a few hours for under $50.

I too went with the SJM kit, but ended up with a bunch of unused parts. Next time I'll probably just make my own.
