I would call Dana and ask him. He is a good guy, NOT a salesman.

He has put 4L60Es in a few 9 second f-bodies and many of the fast b-body guys go to him for parts or outright builds. Other shops come along with good saleman and last awhile but Dana has been at this tranny a long time and just keeps doing good work.

I personally know the guy rebuilding it. He is a heavy mechanic at a dealership I work AR and he specializes in rearends and trans's.

~$600 for rebuild kit
$200 for labor
~$400 for a budget stall

Should I go with a stock rebuild kit until I can afford a Performabuilt?
I just want something that will take an average beating.

The assembler is a lot more important than the kit used. He either needs to have built performance use 4L60Es or needs to be willing to take direction on what the clearances need to be and you need to buy the kit somewhere where they will give you such info.

I wouldn't run a $400 converter either. Cheapest lockup converter I would recommend for these is Edge Racing and I believe those are around $525. Going inexpensive is one thing, going "cheap" usually cost a whole lot more.

Called and talked to Dana. Great guy with lots of info!
Ended up purchasing the street strip with the separator plate.
Thanks for all the info guys!

Any suggestion on stall? Dana recommended 2800-3200.
