Weren't the LPP headers manufactured by SSautochrome? I believe the first batch of LPP's actually had an SSAutochrome badge welded onto them. I wonder if that guy got undercut by these guys. I can't remember what his headers cost, and even though they were 321 stainless instead of 304, 300 bucks is really cheap. I guess the only drawback is no y-pipe.

Personally, if I had the money, I would still go with Kooks.

That's what I'd like to know. Price and looks mean nothing if they don't fit.

Just like installing any other set of long tubes on these cars. It might touch the k-member, the steering shaft or the passenger side frame.

Mine did the last 2 as I already had a PA racing kmember. No big deal just made them work.

Yes the LPP's were made by SSautochrome and the fitment issues are easy to address without grabbing the BFH. I paid $450 IIRC.

Assuming these OBX headers fit well with at best, minor fitment issues that even Kooks have presented some on the board, why would you want to spend nearly a grand more (with y-pipe) for the Kooks? Im all for American made, but there is a tipping point in todays economy. Kooks is good stuff but overpriced based on competition.

I remember OBX coming out for a header for the Lightning. They were a direct knock-off of the Kooks, and nearly 1/3 the price. Plus they included all the hardware necessary, and even mid-pipe resonators. Was a heck of a deal.

I put a lot of good miles on those things, and they held up perfectly. I'd buy another set of OBX headers in a heartbeat. They're fit and finish were perfect.

I'd gladly spend a few extra dollars for a USA designed and built part, but when it's $500+ difference, there's no way to justify it.

I just got an email regarding my order this morning saying "Since you live in Canada, we will send an additional invoice for the shipping and handling fee"

Then, just got another email saying that I can choose either:
$99.00 for Postal Priority service
or
$208.00 for Express Mail service.

I knew that was gonna happen I just wish they didnt wait till after I paid for the headers to tell me how much shipping was gonna cost.

I suspect Kooks offers superior customer support, and superior product quality. I'm old, and have some extra money available for my hobbies. If I were young and broke, it might be difficult to justify the extra expense. For the price, I think Kooks should offer 321.

I agree with what you're saying but what customer service is needed for a set of headers?
