sounds like some kind of vaccum issue to me, but Im not the 6speed expert, all my cars are auto. I will say though, you WILL want to get it tuned for the cam thats in the car.

I have a similar issue with my 96 TA, I have traced every component to the throttle body and no success. I did put a small spring on the throttle spring to the radiator hose clamp and the seemed to fix it, but I dont like rigs. The one thing that was a constant was the throttle body. I cleaned it real well but it still does it. It is like the blades are not closing all the way and it can be annoying, hince why the extra spring. If you figure something out pleas let me know.

It's not like a steady idle at 2000 rpm it goes up an down from like 1900 to 2100 rpms

Mine also. But if I tap the gas it will sometime go back to 1500ish, You may have a IAC issue but that is usually a bigger RPM swing. Is your car a traction control car?

Vacuum leak or the throttle position sensor?

I sprayed the entire top of my engine and all related parts and no change in idle. Also a vaccuum leak would be more consistant, either cold or warm or all the time, not a day or week or longer between episodes. Mine has done it as close to back to back stop and go to not doing it for a month, the only help was the spring.

Mabe it is the return spring on the throttle spring, attached to the throttle body??? Just an idea...
