No power in 3rd gear WOT
I ended up going to the track yesterday to make some passes in my t/a. I never really thought anything was wrong when I was shifting to 3rd towards the end of the track until yesterday someone told me when it hits 3rd it sounds like it's losing power and I'm on a Sunday cruise. So I started paying more attention and noticed when it shifts to 3rd it seems like it floats around 4k for a second the starts gradually going up. The car feels like I am holding the pedal at 50% throttle when I have it slammed to the floor. Feels like the converter is locking up, but I don't know if that's even possible in 3rd gear. So when I got home from the track I went out for a drive. If I'm driving with the throttle anywhere but wide open, the car runs great through all the gears, and 3rd doesn't feel like it's lost power. I'm pretty stuck here, not sure where to even start, whether it's a transmission, engine or electrical problem. mods in my sig. engine has 118k on it, transmission and converter have 8k on it...

It usually runs up through 1st and 2nd so quickly, you won't notice it running out of fuel.
Attach a test gauge (one with a hose) to the shroeder valve, tape the gauge to the windshield, drive it and watch the fuel pressure. It should not drop below approximately 42 psi at WOT. If it does, it's the fuel filter, the pump, the voltage supply to the pump, or ground connections.

Update: Finally got around to checking the fuel pressure. It's 30-35 on key on and idle. Not going to bother checking it through WOT. Is there any particular grounds I should be checking?

Yea I dont know **** about fuel systems, but it seems stupid to call a test quits after an idle test when your issue is happening at WOT.
EDIT: not giving you ****, just saying...think about what you just said haha. We all have our "Doh!" moments!

From what I remember from my 89 camaro, pressure was still ~41 psi at key on and idle. So I figured it should be the same for this car. Anyways, I tested it at WOT and it fluctuates between 35 and ~39. Didn't see the needle jump above 40 one time.

According to all data and Chilton manual for corvettes it says that pressure should be 41-47 at idle with the vacuum line attached so I'm curious to what makes 30-35 okay.
