Default What is this part?

On a 96 Z28

I have no idea what this part is... the one thats black with the silver tube coming up from god only knows what and goes into the rear of the black part and then a black elbow hose comes out the front that you see just behind the fuel line.

A buddy told me PCV... a local parts shop said EGR... someone else said secondary air injection relay and another said secondary air injection valve.

I need to replace that elbow hose cause its cracked and leaking and without knowing exactly what it is, makes it hard to call around and try and find a replacement

It's a check valve for the AIR injection sytem. It's emissions related.

Thanks guys, so for sure a dealer part and not something I would find at a parts place.

Was wondering if this part leaking would at all cause a check engine for a bad o2 sensor? From what I hear the o2's are a pain to replace and of course the one thats actually bad is worst to replace of them all (again from what i have been told) the one on the passenger front...

Guys... it saddens me to say... that is not my engine compartment. I had to search high and low on Google to find a picture that showed that valve.

Good deal man, appreciate it. And hello from up here near Mountain Home AR. Just moved here from Ohio and found out we are in tornado alley and even had my first warning sirens waking me up at 3 in the morning a few weeks. I don't like it... lol... and wanna go back to the worst thing to worry about was a bad ice storm haha

All you had to do was go to my website.

I gave the GM number, but it may be available aftermarket.

We have tornadoes and ice storms (and most things in between). Be glad you live in a town that has sirens. A weather radio with S.A.M.E. programming is a good thing to have.

For like $8 may as well stick with dealer as I would have no clue where else to look, that is if the morons ever call me back. Called 4 times and always says leave message, so here I wait after leaving a message. Must be the busiest parts dept in the state lol.

I would prefer to have a bunker... that or the ability to move back to where I was in Ohio or my home town near Philadelphia.

Just do what I did. Put on race long tubes, remove AIR and EGR and cut the AIR pipe out.

I dont think they have smog checks there So I would just get some headers & delete that bullshit Get headers without the egr & get block off plates for the intake & be done with it Your engine bay will be much cleaner & lighter lol

I just need to fix these couple problems, cause I want to sell the car and then just get a beater A to B car thats more economical for me. Anyone have a clue what I might be able to get privately?

Its in excellent condition, no rust or dings and the only real issues are it needs to air conditioner recharged, small crack in the dash thats barely noticeable in the middle near where the venting comes out and the small flap piece thats angles up and over the rear trunk space for the T-Tops go has a broken piece off one side so it doesn't exactly sit right. other then that... the car is pretty solid.

Had the trans replaced 2 yrs ago along with a lot of other work (though with moving I lost receipts). But currently this is what is installed:
