So wait, You upped the compression, went from 350 to 357ci, AND put in a camshaft? And all you got is 27hp gain?

Did the old dyno numbers have a cam and you just got a larger cam? or did you go from stock cam to this cam?

That is impressive especially for a "boat" ...stock shortblock right? I'd be happy with that ET with a 383 and 500 lbs less weight considering the 6spd, 10 bolt, and street tires are pretty big liabilities as far a faster ET goes.

yes. 323/338 was stock cam w/ 1.6rr

349/351 was 226/234

27hp gain from cam, lid, 11.6.1. comp.

but the fan in front of the car does the lid no justice. on the hi way it pulls so much harder, even in 4th gear.

I still think there is something not quite right or holding you back other than headers...you said they picked up 7-8 hp with the tune....one can reasonably assume that increasing the displacement 7 cubes would add approximately 7hp....so that accounts for 14-15 hp gain....that leaves only 11-12 hp gain for the cam, 11.6 CR, and lid.... I would think that cam would add substantially more hp. Was it on the same dyno? Your baseline number seems very high actually for a stock cam....not saying it's not possible to hit 323....but my cam only car made only 311 rwhp. Maybe you just got a very generous baseline dyno that set you up for disappointment now...just a theory.

Just a CC503 and 1.6 rockers would get you around 350whp in a M6.

i was having some ele issues on the dyno. batt ground, batt cables, oil leak, a few other minor things. Ion said they didnt hold me back much tho.

All of the issues may cost me 4-5hp total. I will have LT's on the car in 2wks or so and all the issues i had yesterday will be hammered out.

7 cubes for 7hp. which would leave 20hp from the cam/lid/comp. still low IK, IK. but better. I know things still need to get panned out, once they do and i put on LT's i will do 2 more pulls.

different dyno's too. 1st numbers were from LS1 speed, 2nd numbers from a friend of a friend in Sugar Grove, IL.

I have heard speed inc to have a "happy" dyno

very curious to see what id put down on their dyno after i got my 323/338 baseline.

cutout was worth 10hp... so through exhaust you made less than 340 rwhp in a stick car with a full point of compression and lightly ported heads... not saying dynos are king, but im not going to throw out the classic "see what it does at the track" response because of your poor dyno performance. i doubt "midlength" (they're ******* short headers) are hurting you that much, it'd be nice to see a graph.

i was having issues with the car. my first baseline i did yesterday was 348/346. than made 3 pulls at 338/340, 342/344, etc. I know electrical things are goiong wrong.

this car was just sitting for 3yrs as of 3wks ago.

electronics dont like to sit, at first i couldnt count all my problems when i got the car to run. Now ive only got 3 left to chase down. once the car is problem free (hopefully by sunday) and i toss on LT's Il re post in this same thread.

I emailed the guy whose house we were at, he's emailing me the graph later, Il post it when i get it. It is very very smooth tho.

and il have track times the 31st, great lakes isnt open yet.

speed pro's, local shop. Everyone loves them. The owner actually has a LT1 in a mid 1950's chevy (forgot the model) so that made me a bit more comfortable.

Different dyno might explain a lot here....apples and oranges comparison.

If your talking about the dyno graph, this has to do with the smoothing more then anything, take it off and any dyno graph will look like a crack addict tried to trace a line lol

Lol Save it to photobucket then copy and paste the IMG link.

So your friend has a dyno at his house? Maybe I read that wrong? What kind of dyno is it?

spoke wit Ion, he told me my ELE. issues are costing me 12-15rwhp. My starter needs a shim and to be re-grounded. Also a batt wire that runs back by the firewall to the left of the PS header needs to be re-routed. He also said my ALT is prolly dead and i should replace it, the ALT is most likely sucking up the power im missing. Than i need to check all connections, wires, related to the ALT, BATT, starter.

yeah, he said LT's would help but my car is not running right, once i fix it i should be at 365rw. which explains quite a bit.

This is my first build ever, paying a mechanic for some work. Did a lot on my own and i realize the money saved is only costing me more money now. u live and learn....

right now the car will not start right up if it was running for a while. So i need to get this taken care of tonight and i want to make one more pull after this is all said and done.

The calibration can still vary between dynojets... not to mention the variables controlled by the dyno operator....as well as temperature and atmospheric conditions. Only real way to compare dyno curves is on the exact same dyno on the exact same day....everything else equal. Good luck fixing your electrical issues.
