make yourself a 355 with a stock machined crank, new rods and deffinatly new pistons/rings, and at that mileage a new timing chain would probably be good. see if you can find a cheap used lt4 hotcam to throw in it if you want more power to go with it

Im with other people saying not to mod a 210k mile engine. 110k is one thing, 210k is another. But hey you could do a compression check and if its all good then thats something. You still risk cam and crank bearings being worn though. If you put the 2k into mods, the motor will probably grenade, if you put 2k into a motor, you wont have any mods, but the motor will be ready for them down the road.
Kind of a tough scenario man. You can find some lower mile used lt1's, but you risk them being bad and not knowing it.
In the end I think the smart thing would be to do a rebuild. When you do the mods, you are gonna be driving the car harder, garuentee it! A 210k mile motor probably wont like that either!

Le2 topend and polish/balance the crank, new rings, bearings,OE timing chain, melling 10554 oil pump, stall, tune . Minimum or your pissing into the wind and will end up unsatisfied.
So save another grand and have a parts/grocery getter on reserve.

Might be different but why not buy a parts hauler should be able to find a cheap 4 banger car or truck for around 1000 then do a 350 rebuild and add a lt4 hot cam or some spray and that way when your ready you can build a nice motor and not have to walk while your car is down if this isn't an option I would say freshen up the old 210k motor
