Default LT1 Header Compatibility Question

I'm replacing the exhaust and while I'm trying to do it as cheaply as possible I'm also trying to squeeze as much performance as I can out of it....

So... My question is: Will these headers fit on my 93 Firebird Formula?

http://www.summitracing.com/parts/SU...n/?prefilter=0

Because I'm fairly certain it matters I'm also ordering the EGR and AIR block off plate kit......

I'm going to be using a universal pipe kit for everything else....

http://www.jegs.com/i/JEGS-Performan...30560/10002/-1

I got a couple mufflers so yeah.... I just need to know if the headers will fit because they say it's for 94-95.... but I'm hoping that's just because of differing EGR or AIR hookups.... which I will be scrapping anyway...
Thanks in advance!

Anybody? I mean it hasn't been that long but there are enough new posts someone should have read it that would know..... I hope anyway....
I've got like 30 windows open trying to search the whole internet (lol) for the
best deal....
My exhaust is literally falling apart.... I lost my driver's side tailpipe today
broke right off at the muffler
I'm going all the way to the headers because they too are leaking and I'm
done dealing with it.....
OR if anyone who reads this has a set of long tube headers they want to get rid of..... as long as you aren't as insane as some of the people on CL charging full retail or better for used parts.... one set of headers.... wow just wow you have to see it yourselves....

http://miami.craigslist.org/pbc/pts/2922261029.html

Anyway yeah please help.....
Thanks

No, they will not fit. They will bolt to the heads sure but the primary piping is routed in such a way that it won't clear the k-member, starter, accessories, etc. You need to find headers that are LT1-specific.

Try www.byunspeed.com. They have a ****-ton of LT1-specific headers.

Ah I missed that. At first glance they look like SBC headers.

The EGR/AIR hookups for 93s are slightly different. But I would be VERY uncomfortable buying $180 headers as the workmanship and quality is likely going to be poor. Look for Pacesetters - they are arguably the best bang for the buck when it comes to headers. And you can get them 93-specific.

Yeah and I'm ordering the EGR block off plates

http://www.ws6project.com/user_stor/...ck-off-plates/

Also just out of curiosity why does 180$ mean bad? I'm sure it'll be way better than stock... but if you look here: http://www.summitracing.com/search/B...t/?Ns=Rank|Asc
then you can see the 3 headers that are being compared (those are the only LT specific ones) and the cheap ones that I want are identical to the other two with the exception of having slightly different emissions hookups (at least that's how it appears) oh and being 100$ more....

If youre looking for a cheap header that fits well you should read this thread:

https://ls1tech.com/forums/lt1-lt4-m...-recieved.html

They are on back order at the moment but if you can wait i'd say they are well worth their price.

I want to spend ~200$ on LTs also, but I'm looking for used ones...

I have a set of used Jethot LT headers I would let go for pretty cheap...the drivers side collector was pretty close to the floor board but it might just be my car. They are ceramic coated but the parts that hang down in road spray are rusty.

If anyone is interested shoot me a PM and I can get you some pictures.

Well I just placed my order.... Here's what I ended up getting

http://www.summitracing.com/parts/SUM-G9028/ I went with these because I got too nervous at the last minute to order something that MIGHT not fit... I might save 80$ at first but between return shipping and restocking fees etc I probably wouldn't save a dime....

http://www.summitracing.com/parts/UPI-2100/ EGR Block off plates

http://www.jegs.com/i/JEGS+Performan...30560/10002/-1
Universal Dual Exhaust Kit

http://www.jegs.com/i/Dynomax/289/24205/10002/-1
2x Dynomax Thrush Magnum Glasspack Muffler

http://www.jegs.com/i/Hooker+Headers/520/22201/10002/-1
Hooker Headers Large Bore Exhaust Tip Extentions

Yes I know it's gonna be a little on the loud side.... ok... it's gonna be stupid loud probably.... but I bet I get a nice little performance bump though....

This is gonna be fun.... I'll be posting pics as everything comes in and gets installed....

I hope those headers fit well. It's nice to see new products coming out for us.

I bet its going to be really really raspy with those small pipes, glasspacks and no crossover, but some people love that sound. I've ran that same setup on my old truck. It sounded like **** ran out the back but I ended up cutting off the tailpipes and just dumping the mufflers behind the cab. That cut out on the rasp and made it sound much better.

I plan on doing something like what's in the picture... I always kinda wanted side exhaust ever since I was walking through the store.... passing a rack with Hot Wheels and almost broke my neck because my head came to a complete stop and forgot to tell my body..... It wasn't even the first one.... I somehow spotted the shape of the rear end as I was walking by not even looking at the cars.... and there it was.... Sure it was a cop car.... but it was still a Firebird.... and it had side outlet exhaust

OK grabbed a Universal H-Pipe Kit from Jegs

I have a 93, those headers will fit but the egr and air will be in the wrong place. At least one of them will be, not sure which one. I believe its the egr.but u are going to block them anyway. U will also need a panhard bar relocation kit to drop the bar to run the exhaust through if u decide to go out the back.

I ended up getting the race headers without any EGR or AIR and the sent me Pacesetters I just got them on this morning..... I am VERY VERY happy with my setup it's actually pretty quiet under normal circumstances but it opens way up when I step on it....
I'll get some pics later it's kinda ugly with all the clamps but I'll get it welded up once I'm sure it's good like this....

So you ordered the Summit headers and they sent you Pacesetters by mistake?

Yep I have bought several "house" brand items from both and they show up with a name on them. For instance I once bought a set of "summit" brand head bolts for a cheap rebuild, when they arived they had ARP stamped on the head...lol, they were 15 dollors cheaper than the ARP set...ol

Pacesetters for the win.... Driver's side was a total breeze.... Passenger side required MUCH more cussing to install... Anyway I'll go outside and grab a few post install pics

It sounds beautiful! My ONLY complaint is the driver's side does bang the steering linkage I gotta fix that it looked like it would clear but... guess not...
