Default muffler selection help

getting the final pieces together for my v6 to lt1 swap. looking to do a cheap exhaust and ive decided to go with dumps before the axle. need help selecting a pair of small mufflers. i dont want it too loud as i will have my 2yr old in the back but i do want it to sound muscular at higher rpm's. open to suggestions. thanks.

I don't think its possible to have quiet dumps. Why not just run a standard y pipe and catback?

Headers or stock Y pipe? Shouldn't cost too much to run a single pipe all the way back and a muffler. Search here or Craigslist and see if anyone is dumping a stock axle back system.

Look for the single in/out Flowmaster system with the 30-series muffler. should be able to find the complete system for around $250. I have it with Mac mids and no cat and its quieter than stock on the inside with no drone or resonance whatsoever. Outside its deep and tough without being obnoxious. I ride with my 2yr old and 7yr old all the time

Come on there has to be something quiet enough to silence 4 cylinders!

Use a magnaflow round muffler. They are fairly quiet. Be sure to use a turn down though. They will still drone at cruising speeds.

Magnaflow at 2,000 RPM will drone. Flowmaster 40 series, drones louder.

In running magnaflow 4x9s and an x pipe dumped at the axle. It drones less than my old flowtech catback.

Magnapacks are not quiet. I know that much. I ran 2 magnapacks on a 3.9L v8 Lincoln LS for awhile, hated the sound.

Moroso spiral flows are quieter then magnapacks.

If money is so tight, The best bang for you buck would probably be a used cat back. Hell, you might be able to find a stock catback for dirt cheap. You could run that until you have the money. The Long tubes and no cats will bring out more sound. A stock cat back will kind of choke the car but atleast you know youll be getting an end result of "quiet" lol
