If you have the money, chrome molly and aluminum is the ticket to shave weight. Drag brakes and the single a arm/strut up front really gets them light. Lexan the doors and gut them.

yeah as said though, these cars will get heavy when you make them durable.... My car has NEVER broken a driveshaft or an axle, etc.... I don't want to lighten the drivetrain or the safety ****..... Which is why i'm focusing on the doors, the glass, and the steel hatch. I might minitub which will also take some weight out as well....

my thoughts on the doors/glass/hatch is this. by my calculation it will reduce the cars weight by at least 250-300lbs..... and the car SHOULD look exactly the same.....
